Principal Project Manager, United Income

United Income is a RIA headquartered in Washington, DC with $1B of assets under management. Spun out of Morningstar in 2016 and acquired by Capital One in July 2019, we pair financial advisors with new technology we’ve invented to lower clients’ taxes, boost retirement benefits, and improve the quality of investment management, in part by simulating not only market outcomes but also potential life outcomes. As a Principal Project Manager at United Income, you will drive strategy and execute on high priority projects for one of the fastest growing wealth management firms in the country. You will work with smart and passionate people to deliver results that have a direct impact on the company’s bottom line. You will take on important and exciting responsibility from day one, working with key stakeholders across the company. The ideal candidate is an ambitious, knowledgeable and passionate project manager. The Principal Project Manager will work closely across several teams, including: Business Development team, Finance, Human Resources, Supplier Management and Technology. In this role, you will be responsible to ensure a smooth integration of acquisitions and work on various critical projects across these teams.

General Responsibilities:

  • Working collaboratively across a cross-functional project or deal team

  • Working with outside counterparties as appropriate (including companies and external financial, consulting or legal advisors)

  • Writing and delivering communications to executive audiences

  • Work with new stakeholders on integration plan to United Income platform

  • Work with Capital One stakeholders to ensure successful integration of portfolios

  • Travel to new clients nationwide (15-25% travel) and understand business needs

  • Work on large and small scale projects that have a direct impact on the company.

  • Drive projects based on defined priorities; ensure scope of deliverables, timelines and budget are met; identify risks and issues and mitigate and / or escalate as needed

  • Plan, design, manage and execute project plans to ensure delivery. This activity includes management through feasibility, design, planning and implementation.

  • Leverage problem solving skills to ensure project plans deliver on intent and maintain key project documentation

  • Partner with project customers to provide strategic and tactical thought partnership to effectively drive project delivery

  • Forge relationships with key stakeholders to ensure delivery of commitments

  • Identify ways to improve and streamline business process, enabling more efficient and scalable processes

  • Exhibit a proven track record of project management, bringing the ability to quickly put structure in place to manage the work

  • Demonstrate outstanding communication and partnership skills which are essential for interacting and communicating with key stakeholders across all levels to manage, inform, and influence outcomes

  • Demonstrate organizational agility to adapt to changing demands

  • Display strong consulting and collaboration skills

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Military experience

  • At least 3 years of Project Management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters / MBA degree

  • At least 5 years of Project Management experience

  • Experience working in a Lean or Agile environment

  • Experience with JIRA or a similar tool
