Position Description:

The Vendor Security Specialist is responsible daily interaction with vendors who inherently pose a greater security risk for the organization due to the services they are providing, the data they are handling or their specific risk profile. This role is responsible for analyzing information and reports, chasing concerns and tracking progress on corrective actions.Our ideal candidate has a unique blend of vendor management, project leadership and problem-solving skills; they are a fluent communicator, adept at influencing diverse stakeholder groups. This exciting role requires a problem-solver who can scan across many areas of expertise, and apply their vendor governance and security risk management skills to arrive at feasible solutions. Responsibilities include:

  • Design and implement processes that allow for effective vendor security risk monitoring, management and mitigation; effectively and quickly adapting to the security needs of a highly agile organization.

  • Work closely with vendors to ensure security standards, policies, and procedures are deeply embedded and understood.

  • Develop and implement vendor risk reporting for management teams and governance committees.

  • Support the implementation, testing and business continuity efforts for vendor security. Administer and configure security tools.

  • Lead risk-focused culture and process change through training and interaction with key leaders. Be part of a team which promotes a culture of security and awareness; positively influencing desirable behavior and actual implementation of policy in daily practice.

  • Continually learn and stay current with industry trends related to vendor security risk.

  • Clearly articulate issues and communicate in an effective and personable manner; demonstrating strong written and verbal communication and organization skills.

  • Define business and functional requirements, provide support to business and technology teams, including requirements gathering and project management for new development and integration projects with little or no direction.

  • Participate in new contract reviews and renewals to provide subject matter expertise on vendor security risk mitigation.

  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance. Comply with all company policies and procedures.

Position Requirements:

  • Experience in Vendor Management, Project Management and Business Process Outsourcing

  • Experience driving collaboration and agreement across departments

  • Strong external and internal stakeholder management skills

  • Experience leading and performing vendor risk assessments and/or audits

  • 5 years experience in Financial Services; Mortgage experience preferred
