At BMC, the Production Supervisor leads by example as they oversee the day-to-day operations of truss production. This individual has great leadership qualities and organization, as they are also in charge of developing schedules and ensuring assignments are finished in a timely manner.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Supervise associates involved in all facets of the truss facility, including measuring, cutting, assembly, sanding, finishing, order filling, loading, and housekeeping.

  • Develop work assignments and schedules, and maintain time and production records.

  • Confer with yard/warehouse to plan and allocate use of materials and equipment.

  • Ensure production schedules are met, and that all orders are completed per specifications.

  • May be responsible for procuring and pricing truss products.

  • May be actively involved with the budget and review process.

  • Maintain inventory records on all production items.

  • May be actively involved in recruiting, hiring, associate orientation, training, and disciplining associates.

  • Perform activities of workers supervised.

  • Operate machinery as required.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to the quality improvement process and the philosophy of continuous improvement.

  • Identify and respond actively and with sensitivity to the needs of all customers.

  • Participate as a team player in all phases of the organization.

  • Open and responsive to change.

  • Personally provide customers with knowledgeable, courteous, and prompt service at all times.

  • Comply with all Company policies and procedures.

  • Adhere to the Company’s safety standards and enforce safety regulations.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills

  • Minimum Education: High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).

  • Ability to write simple reports and correspondence.

  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and in small group situations to customers, clients, and other associates of the organization.

  • Exceptional Excel skills (mathematical-related tasks).

  • Ability to define and solve practical problems; interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or scheduled form.

  • Ability to respond to complaints, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • May require forklift certification.

  • Must be able to read engineering and layout plans; have basic blueprint reading skills and general construction knowledge.

  • Ability to work with and get along with a variety of people.

Required Experience

  • Minimum Experience:

  • At least 2 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Must have supervisory experience and knowledge of the industry.
