Role & Responsibilities
Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the department and its employees; including all performance management, time-keeping, and safety procedures.
Assist in the training of new hire employees and ongoing education for team.
Expedite shop orders through department.
Coordinate with management and/or employees from other departments in the manufacturing/fabrication/assembly process.
Help team to maintain machines and work area in a clean and safe manner.
Must be able to supervise First Shift and be available before and after shift (approx 6:00am - 3:45pm, Monday thru Friday)
Must have previous supervisory/management experience (5 year minimum)
Experience in one or all of the following is preferred: welding; metal fabrication; machining
Must be able to read blueprints
Excellent communication skills; able to converse professionally with shop and office employees, supervisors, managers, and executives
Proficient with performance management, including plans of action and evaluations
Proficient with MS Office
Strong focus on Safety
Requires consistent shop floor presence (2/3 of shift)
Must be able to multi-task on a consistent basis throughout the shift
Requires average math skills; ability to read and comprehend instructions written in English and complete logs, documents, and reports in English
Ability to work in a team setting
