Elliot Health System ASSISTANT TEACHER in Manchester, New Hampshire

  • POSITION SUMMARY

  • Supports the daily operation of the Elliot Child Care Center by assisting the Associate and Lead Teachers in providing a warm, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for young children.

  • KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Helps maintain a program in which each child has a positive experience throughout the day, by treating all children with dignity and respect and allowing for individual difference, providing an atmosphere of acceptance and caring, showing as much individual attention as possible to each child, and providing an environment and curriculum that helps each child develop to the fullest in each area of development.

  • Remains with the children at all times and participates in all appropriate activities, such as: activities times, feeding times, art, free play, active play, outdoor play, clean-up times, and diapering/toileting.

  • Observes individual children and gives attention as needed or requested by the teacher or director.

  • Helps keep the program safe and attractive.

  • Follows programming as planned by the teacher and director.

  • Makes suggestions which may benefit children or programming.

  • Adheres to program’s polices, health and safety regulations, and emergency procedures.

  • Communicates with families in an open, friendly, and professional manner about their children through regular interaction.

  • Maintains courteous and professional communication and relationships with coworkers at all times.

  • Maintains a professional attitude and behavior at all times, and maintains loyalty to the program.

  • Attends all staff meetings and recommended training programs and conferences. Provides the Director or designee with documentation in accordance with program and/or state requirements.

  • In accordance with the NH Child Care Licensing Unit, attends a minimum number of continuing education training hours.

  • Follows all applicable NH Child Care Program Licensing Rules.

  • Participates in appropriate role in disasters, fire drills, fires and other emergency situations.

  • Exercises care in the operation and use of equipment and reference materials.

  • Performs routine cleaning and preventative maintenance to ensure continuing functioning of equipment.

  • Maintains work area in a clean, safe and organized manner.

  • Performs other duties as assigned or directed.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and establish a cooperative, collaborative working environment. Ability to facilitate communication between and among others.

  • Ability to demonstrate courtesy, compassion and respect in relating to children, families, visitors and coworkers.

  • EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE

  • Education: Must be 16 years of age. Appropriate documentation for employment required.

  • Experience: Experience working with young children in settings such as child care, babysitting, camp counselor.

  • Certification/Licensure: NH Early Childhood Credential preferred or must apply for credential within 12 months of hire.
