Why this role matters

The Network Strategy team has a critical role to play as we continue to develop a long term, multi-technology network strategy that delivers sustainable differentiation for all internal departments and maximises our investment returns.

This role is accountable for leading our analytics and modelling capability to drive network strategy discussions and decision making across BT Group and optimise allocation of £2.5bn of Group investment in network infrastructure

What you'll be doing

  • Ownership of BT Group view of network cost economics, supporting their application within Strategy &Transformation and across BT Group to drive strategic choices.

  • Carry out long term strategic capacity planning and own the BT Group view on drivers for long term demand, including demand elasticity.Development of MTP capex plans in conjunction with BT Technology.

  • Carry out competitive analysis and own the BT Group view on network infrastructure competition, and market scenarios.

  • Use network modelling and competitive insight to identify key economic network issues, identify and evaluate scenarios, build the long term market and economic impacts with return on investment.

  • Lead cross business interactions to define, align and source network economics, support capacity planning and agree MTP capex planning for key network investments (MD & Director level).

  • Collaborate with Network Strategy teams to support strategic decision making and regulatory recommendations

  • Experience of formulating network strategy and plans.

  • Sufficient network technology experience to engage on network topics at all levels internally and externally.

  • Excellent and broad understanding of the markets BT is playing in and their key drivers.

  • Strong team player, needs to lead and influence across business.

  • Operating experience in a network or economic modelling role within telecoms preferred.

  • Requires knowledge of network economics, techno-economic modelling and analytical tools to enable the evaluation of commercial impacts of technical solutions.

  • Highly numerate, analytical and comfortable operating across the business.

  • Strong presentation skills, capable of articulating complex ideas with authority and making the case for change. Must be able to communicate conclusions, while articulating the analysis and modelling approaches clearly and concisely.Must be experienced presenting at Board level.

  • Requires understanding at a high level the breadth of network technologies.
