Abbott Technical Business Development Manager CRM - NSW, ACT in Macquarie Park, Australia


The TBDM role will be equally split between field-based clinical coverage/certification objectives and CRM Business Development Initiatives.

The TBDM will provide advanced technical expertise to internal and external customers through CRM implant and follow-up procedure support.

In collaboration with the Regional Sales Manager the TBDM will assist with the development and implementation of strategic initiatives to grow the CRM business in NSW & ACT.


Provide Field Based Case Support, Education and Training, and Clinical Expertise

  • Provide high level technical support for internal and external customers with CRM implant and follow up procedures.

  • Assist with the field certification of CRM team members as a CRM field trainer.

  • Working closely with the RSM & ASM, assist with the evaluation of current local training processes and practices to ensure certification processes are streamlined and timelines are minimised.

  • Assist RSM & ASM with the planning and implementation of external customer education initiatives.

  • Assist the RSM with new hires, identifying talent, interviewing and mentoring.

New Product Launches

Working in collaboration with RSM, marketing, and education to play a pivotal role in the successful and strategic launch of new CRM products (in-line with national strategic launch objectives and timelines).

Specific roles related to this objective include:

  • Assist RSM with the development of product specific local strategic launch plans, including launch material resource sourcing, competitive anti-selling intel distribution, and internal and external education planning related to new product launches.

  • The planning and implementation of technical training related to new product launches.

  • Assist the RSM with Feature and Benefit selling training session development.

  • Role play resource development.

  • Assist RSM with inventory management planning as it pertains to the phase-in/phase-out of new products.

CRM Tender Management

  • Assist RSM with strategic tender preparation and submission.

  • Assist RSM with ongoing local tender reporting requirements.

  • Assist RSM with new product addition submissions pertaining to NSW & ACT tenders.

Market data analysis

  • Assist the RSM with the analysis and distribution of CRM market data on a regular and ongoing basis (AQMen, InfoView, etc)

Competitor Anti-selling

  • Working closely with RSM, marketing and education to take a lead role in distributing competitor product information to assist the CRM team to better compete in the marketplace.

  • This role function will compliment Abbott product launches as well as prepare the team for upcoming competitor product launches.

CRM Knowledge sharing

  • Regular review of CRM relevant scientific journals (PACE, Heart Rhythm, JCE, etc).

  • Early and timely distribution of journal articles that are relevant to our business, Abbott products, and competitor products.

  • Local case study development and distribution.

Limited Market Release (LMR’s)

  • Assist RSM and marketing with the identification of appropriate LMR sites, as well as assisting with the internal training required to facilitate these LMR’s.

Key Account Strategic Planning

  • Working closely with RSM’s, ASM’s, and TM’s the TBDM will actively participate in Business Review planning meetings to assist with the development of innovative business strategy’s to grow our CRM business.

  • The TBDM will assist with the identification of strategic Abbott cross-business selling opportunities related to the NSW & ACT business.

  • Have a sound understanding of, and comply with, the industry (MTAA) the Abbott Code of Conduct and Company Compliance requirements.

  • Handle and document customer complaints according to Abbott ANZ Field Event Reporting Standard Operating Procedure.

  • Knowledge of and commitment to the requirements of the Quality Management System.

  • Knowledge of and commitment to Work, Health & Safety responsibilities.

  • Action any other customer complaints with relevant Abbott ANZ Business Units.

  • Execute the position and Business Unit responsibilities according to applicable Abbott ANZ Standard Operating Procedures.

  • Perform other related functions and responsibilities as directed by Manager.

Professional Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications

Industry Experience

  • Completion of Abbott product certification.

  • At least 4 year’s tenure working with Abbott CRM products.

  • Self-Managed: manages own commitments and time, works independently and autonomously across all accounts, completes administrative tasks (particularly the on line diary) accurately and in line with deadlines.

Computer Skills

  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suites ie Word, Excel, PowerPoint.


  • Tertiary qualifications in biomedical / engineering / medical science / human movement or related field (Coronary Care Nursing/Cardiac Technician) essential.

  • Abbott Product Certification.

  • Train the Trainer Course or assessed as capable of training others by AF-CRM Educators.

  • IBHRE Certified.
