Farm Credit Mid-America FLCA Corporate Communications Manager in Louisville, Kentucky

BASIC FUNCTION: The Corporate Communications Manager independently develops and executes internal and external corporate communications that support Farm Credit Mid-America’s vision, brand and culture. This role will develop corporate communications and plans to meet business objectives in customer and employee communications, regulatory communications, reputation management, crisis communications, and that engage, inform and inspire employees and leaders throughout the association. This position will develop and maintain strong working relationships with leaders and teams in a tactical and consultative role.

In collaboration with peers, the Corporate Communications Manager will support or be responsible for the following areas:

PUBLIC RELATIONS
  • Assist with the development & implementation of annual Public Relations plans in consultation with senior management.

  • Assist with written materials, including press releases, Q&As, presentations, fact sheets and website content.

  • Co-support communications, public relations, publicity with partners of and for Rural 1st.

  • Maintain databases of key media contacts and influencers.

  • Assist with coordination & editing for marketing and customer communication vehicles both on and offline, including but not limited to annual reports, newsletters, eNewsletters, financial reports, election results, etc.

  • Help manage association Social Media presence via Facebook, email marketing, Twitter, LinkedIn, Glassdoor, etc.

  • Develop & update general and program brochures, media kits, key messages, fact sheets, & other collateral material as needed.

  • Help coordinate media outreach & coverage with media releases, TV/radio interviews, feature stories, PSAs, press conferences, etc.

  • Create and coordinate public speaking engagements with/for association spokespeople

  • Coordinate photography for/of events, activities, etc. for use in publications, media, etc. and ensure appropriate releases are signed and filed; maintain graphics & photo files. EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT

  • Develop and provide clear and concise internal communications that reflect Farm Credit Mid-America’s culture, brand, and key audiences. Manage all employee communications, including writing, editing, content and internal communications advisor using best practices. Measure effectiveness of internal communications.

  • Oversees development and execution of internal communication audits and surveys to better understand how team members engage with internal and external content.

  • Support annual Employee Engagement Survey INTERNAL / EXTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS

  • Business Owner Corporate Intranet—maintain and manage the strategy and vision for the intranet. Explore new ways to increase engagement and improve the intranet platform as a primary communication tool for the company.

  • Lead redevelopment, implementation of the Commons, with the intent to upgrade to a fully collaborative sharing and workspace.

  • Lead and/or participates in teams where appropriate (e.g. Intranet Strategy Group) to determine intranet content, design and functionality. Maintain and manage the technical and operational direction of the intranet.

  • Provides content strategy and support for internal and external events CONTENT STRATEGY

  • Develop integrated corporate communications calendar

  • Provide editorial leadership for the intranet, editing and overseeing daily content and news production. Develop, maintain, and manage infrastructure for content publication, including policies, process and procedures, and ensure that agreed upon standards and good practice guidance are met.

  • Partner with other business units, web administrators, content owners and project stakeholders to identify opportunities and implement solutions that drive usage, streamline processes and facilitate communications, ultimately developing goals and strategies for future content growth.

  • Gather Good News stories from program staff for use in all communication (internal & external) and collaborates with external corporate communications manager for external deployment

  • Represents and communicates Farm Credit Mid-America’s mission and values and complies with its conduct policy, security policy and confidentiality expectations.

  • Other duties as assigned.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    Bachelor’s degree in communication, marketing, or related field and at least five years of experience working in publication, news, business internet or intranet environment, OR post-secondary training in communication or a related field and at least seven years of experience working in publication, news, business internet or intranet environment. ​​​​​​​

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    Knowledge of: basic HTML and ASP and some experience in design software and web implementation tools/languages: Photoshop, Illustrator/Freehand, Flash, html, dhtml, JavaScript.

    Skills in: Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills; strong analytic skills; strong written and oral communication skills; critical thinking skills; attention to detail – analyzing data to show trends with precision; collaborating with others to achieve objectives; leveraging web technology and content management systems as a communication/business tool; listening; and coaching others in a way they feel helped; and working in a Windows environment using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Internet Explorer.

    Ability to: Be self-driven; work independently and accountably for project deadlines; must be a fast-learner, able to understand complex environments and projects, pay attention to details and maintain an organized workflow; excellent planning, time management and decision making skills with the ability to self-manage numerous projects simultaneously; demonstrated project management skills and proven ability to deliver results in a fast-paced environment; strong interpersonal skills with a focus on teamwork and ability to foster/maintain relationships across multiple departments and organizations.

    MENTAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    This job requires the incumbent to have the ability to:

    • Engage in telephone and face-to-face conversation to serve customers and give and receive information from customers, staff, vendors, outside consultants and the public.

    • Use computer. This involves reading the screen and keying/typing information.

    • Speak and make presentations to individuals or groups on technical subjects related to job.

    • Travel via auto or commercial transportation to carry out essential responsibilities of the job.

    • Successfully interact with and represent the organization to customers, staff, officers, board members, vendors, and/or the public at all levels.

    • Provide sound technical advice to customers and other staff in the subject field(s) related to this position.

    • Understand and explain various subject matter and consulting concepts, programs, terminology, and methods.

    • Reason, judge, compare, calculate, evaluate, decide, and critique such information as written material, numerical data, responses to customer needs, and/or other related work activities.
