As a Systems Engineer, you will be using yourskills and expertise to design, evaluate, and certify our cutting edgeproducts and services. These cover a very wide range from advanced missionpayloads and electronic systems through highly integrated aircraft to orbitaland space exploration systems. You'll examine complex metallic and compositestructures and systems. Your technical duties involve the design anddevelopment of new products and processes throughout the product lifecycle.This position is for the Environmental Control and Life Support System(ECLSS) Lead. The ECLSS lead is responsible for all aspects of thesubsystem, including hardware deliveries, requirements verificationincluding all test activities, vendor oversight, and budget.The Space Systems business area, based in Louisville, Colorado withoperations in Madison, Wisconsin and Durham, North Carolina, designs andmanufactures advanced spacecraft, satellites, propulsion and environmentalsystems, spacecraft subsystems and components for the U.S. government(including NASA), commercial customers and international organizations.Primary Responsibilities Include:Managing hardware deliveries within SNC as well as from external vendors inorder to meet AIandT schedule milestonesSubsystem requirements management, including verificationSubsystem budget management for AIandT hardware, qualification testing,and all subsystem laborPersonnel management of diverse team of engineersStatus reporting (MPR, NASA quarterlies)Risk managementOversee integrated system testing, including test plan and report generationPrioritization and execution of verification tasks to meet Program schedulemilestonesTechnical, cost, and schedule managementVarious status reporting to schedulers, Design Manager, across to matrixorganizations and Program ManagementMust-haves:Bachelor's of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, AerospaceEngineering, Civil Engineering or other related discipline and typically14ormore years of relevant experienceThorough understandingof engineering principles and practicesAdvanced Experience withComputer Aided Engineering toolsExperiencewith working in multi-disciplinary design and development teamsAdvanced Understanding of Static and/or Dynamic AnalysesPreferred:Lead Design ReviewsFailure analysis and Design member of MRBFamiliarity with NASA and/or FAA structural analysis standardsExperience in Engineering Simulation using Finite Element structural analysis(FEA) tools such as MSC Patran, Nastran, FEMAP, or ANSYSExperience performing fatigue and damage tolerance analysis utilizing toolssuch as NASGRO or AFGROWAbility to perform classical analysis using industry standard hand calculationmethodsKnowledge of industry-standard mechanical design principles, to include,but not limited to parametric design, model-based definition, materialhardware selection, manufacturing and production processesAbility to author substantiation reportsBackground in the Aerospace and Defense IndustryThe ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance may be required.IMPORTANT NOTICE:To conform to U.S. Government international trade regulations, applicantmust be a U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protectedindividual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtainthe required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State or U.S.DepartmenAt Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) we deliver customer-focused technologyand best-of-breed integrations in the aerospace and defense sectors.
