Location/Division Specific Information

The Materials and Structural Analysis Electron Microscopy business enables customers to find meaningful answers to questions that accelerate breakthrough discoveries, increase productivity, and ultimately change the world. The M&SA EM business designs, manufactures, and supports the broadest range of high-performance microscopy workflows that provide images and answers in the micro-, nano-, and picometer scales.

Combining hardware and software expertise in electron, ion, and light microscopy with deep application knowledge in the materials science, life sciences, electronics, and natural resources markets, the worldwide Electron Microscopy employees are dedicated to customers' pursuit of discovery and resolution to global challenges.

How will you make an impact?

The mission of the Industrial Sales Development Manager is to engage with prospective customers, the MS EM sales team, product and business development teams to enable growth of the MS EM industry pipeline in the industrial markets by actively prospecting for new accounts.

This position is responsible for helping to market Thermo Fisher Scientific product solutions with the primary focus on industry by executing business development strategies, sales campaigns and maintaining an understanding of customer requirements for the products. This position promotes long term business opportunities, while supporting short term sales cycles, consistent with the pipeline growth objectives.

What will you do?

  • Actively prospect for new accounts in North America and build pipeline focusing on the industrial markets and verticals identified by the BU.

  • Attain Pipeline Growth targets established by the BU to support the Annual Operating Plan (AOP)

  • Managing Pipeline Growth for Industry

  • Work with the MS Management, Sales, Product Marketing Engineers (PMEs) and BU business development teams to execute the AOP

  • Assist with the management and coordination of cross-BU Synergy initiatives

  • Support the business development efforts in workshops, workflows, campaigns and A3 development tracking for industry efforts.

  • Industrial Campaigns Market Research

  • Works with the BU, MS Management and Sales to define target companies and specific customers to introduce our products and solutions

  • Coordinate with the sales force and the BU in the promotion of products at tradeshows and synergy events.

  • Present commercial presentations developed by the BU to promote solutions-based workflows for specific industry concerns

  • Assist in the assessment of market requirements for MS products for industry in the North Americas region and provide feedback on regional market needs to the PME's and MS BU product marketing managers and segment directors. How will you get here? Education Requires a university degree, preferably in Material Science, Chemistry, Physics or Engineering in combinations with an advanced degree in marketing or business or an equivalent combination of experience and education Experience Typically requires 5 year's business development or sales development experience in a related product and market environment Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Experience working in an industrial setting

  • Knowledge of TEMs, SEMs, and DB technology and their associated markets and applications.

  • Must be self-motivated and enjoy challenges

  • Excellent, enthusiastic, clear communication skills with a diverse audience is critical to the success of this position

  • Exceptional presentation skills and experience creating materials for presentations to internal and external audiences; must have a professional working proficiency in English

  • Ability to work in good cooperation within an account team.

  • Ability to travel to customer sites

  • Ability to travel both domestically as well as internationally (occasionally) and be able to obtain a valid passport

  • Travel requirement 50%
