UCLA Health Hospital Collections Refund/Credit Supervisor in Los Angeles, California

In this key position supporting all three UCLA Health hospitals, you will be responsible for the timely and accurate management of insurance overpayment requests for both inpatient and outpatient receivables. You will also oversee the effective processing of insurance credit balances, ensuring full compliance with all state, federal and contractual regulations. You will:
Implement ongoing process improvements
Collaborate closely with Managed Care Contracting, PBS, Patient Access, Revenue Integrity and Coding teams
Assist with contract management issues
Manage and train a team of collection representativesandclerical staff
Maintain account escalations for resolving difficult cases
Take on projects assigned by the Assistant Director of Collections and the Revenue Cycle Director
Represent department in internal and external meetings
Prepare Medicare quarterly 838 reports
Manage Medi-Cal credit balance audits and insurance liability bulks
Make recommendations for improving technologies, work flows, etc.
We're seeking a self-motivated individual with:
Three or more years of hospital billing and collection management experience
Experience working in unionized environments preferred
Exceptional communication skills
In-depth knowledge of managed care payer regulations
Understanding of Medicare, Medi-Cal, CCS, Workers Comp and other government payer regulations
Proven ability to skillfully interpret payer contracts
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
