Thermo Fisher Scientific Director, Product Management - Growth Areas-Gene and Cell Therapy in Los Angeles, California
The Director, Growth Areas is responsible for leading a product management team responsible for Gibco Cell Culture Media portfolio and their use in bioprocess applications for manufacturing of gene therapy, cell therapy and other growth areas, including strategy, end to end life cycle management and top and bottom line growth..
Manage the gene therapy, cell therapy, and other growth area biomanufacturing portfolio of media products with P&L responsibility, including meeting or exceeding revenue and gross margin targets, manage all aspects of business including strategy, product life cycle, innovation, etc,
Drives demand through impactful sales and marketing campaigns,
Evaluate and craft financially sound business proposals for new products and partnerships that will serve to expand portfolio revenue
Build a high performing team by hiring, developing and engaging highly talented and motivated employees.
Participate in senior leadership team meetings and in strategic planning, including setting objectives and strategies as well as take accountability for implementation and results
Work collaboratively in a highly matrixed organization to achieve results Assist global team providing product training on as needed basis or for new team members
Provide data related to competitors, the market, product and capability positioning, revenue and unit or capacity forecasting working with planning functions, identifying key business priorities, and pricing strategies
REQUIREMENTS / EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry or related discipline.
MBA and/or Masters or Ph.D. in a science related field preferred.
Minimum 10+ years' experience in life sciences industry, product management, or market development.
5+ years' experience managing people
Experience leading global cross-functional teams and working directly with customers.
Knowledge of global cell culture markets and competitive landscape.
Experience in, or knowledge of bio-pharmaceutical product cycles and production processes.
Working knowledge of cGMP regulations.
Technical acumen and familiarity with bioproduction or closely related industry.
Results oriented with high sense of urgency
Strong management, project management and planning skills, and comfortable making decisions and embracing changes.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work in matrix organizational structure.
Ability to travel up to 30+% of the time.
