What You Will Do
This position provides leadership and oversight for a Project Controls organization responsible for implementing LANL control system processes, procedures and tools which are executed by the responsible directorates.
This position requires a strong leadership capability teamed with an in-depth knowledge of project control objectives and the proven ability to develop and implement policies that support those objectives.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Five years of management experience leading large organizations/programs with significant fiscal and programmatic responsibilities.
Extensive experience in the Project Controls function and sub functions of cost, schedule.
Extensive experience with successful implementation and maintenance of an Earned Value Management System (EVMS) that complies with ANSI EIA 748.
Experience in applying EVMS principles and techniques in U.S. Government facilities and/or programs.
Distinguished track record setting technical direction and goals, developing programs, implementing effective business practices and systems, managing personnel, managing budgets and finances, and managing customer and stakeholder relations.
Demonstrated ability to build and grow both internal and external organizational relationships.
Demonstrated commitment to excellence in operations and facilities and business systems.
Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with all levels of management, staff, and customers.
Demonstrated experience in effective decision-making and creative problem solving.
Experience maintaining a rigorous EVMS.
Experience working with the Department of Energy (DOE) at headquarters or field office level, or with state and federal regulators.
Successful experience in executing large-scale projects.
Education Required: Position typically requires a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of twelve years of Project Controls experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. At this level, post graduate course work may be expected.

Where You Will Work
Located in northern New Mexico, Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is a multidisciplinary research institution engaged in strategic science on behalf of national security. LANL enhances national security by ensuring the safety and reliability of the U.S. nuclear stockpile, developing technologies to reduce threats from weapons of mass destruction, and solving problems related to energy, environment, infrastructure, health, and global security concerns.
Capital Projects’ focus is on delivering quality projects and programs, safely and in compliance within scope, schedule and budget for the lab. The Project Controls function is in the Program Performance Services Division and provides subject matter experts which support standard Project Management operations along with application of the LANS-certified Earned Value Management System (EVMS) where appropriate for ensuring that control systems are maintained in compliance with that certification.
