Charles Schwab Technical Program Director in Lone Tree, Colorado
We are seeking an entrepreneurial and passionate Technical Program Manager of Wealth Management Technology to take our design, products and platforms to the next level. In this role you’ll be helping clients and Schwab employees that serve those clients by supporting, building and evolving the tooling for financial portfolio analysis, financial planning and automated or robo investing.
The role focuses on proactively engaging with our technical and business functions by providing personalized and customizable digital solutions to our clients to help them meet their financial goals. The program manager role will collaborate with other product and technology team, as well as lead a cross-functional program team to holistically enhance our Wealth Management offers. An ideal candidate will enjoy being part of a impactful and growing digital team, working in a fast paced environment, be process and data oriented, have strong communication skills, and have extensive experience with client and rep-facing online technologies. This role requires a creative mind set, strong solutions-oriented view and ability to forge relationships with many internal and external partners.
What you’re good at
Lead a cross-functional team of stakeholders (Business Development, Software development teams, UX, Marketing) to develop a vision and a roadmap to take our client centric online solutions to the next level
Excite the team on the impact of the work and the joys of building great software
Integrate technical and product vision and objectives
Execute that vision by actively partnering with technology teams, including owning roadmaps and prioritizing the backlog as necessary
Identify areas of risk and methods of mitigation for large, complex projects
Provide expert insights on where projects are functioning well and where they aren’t. Ability to influence others to pivot on those areas of needs.
Work closely with architects to ensure that architecture vision and design is clearly documented, communicated and integrated into our plans.
Build processes to ensure tracking and alignment on Key Performance Indicators and Objectives and Key Results.
Build technical documentation needed for various roles in technology and product teams. Background and skills needed to build both architecture, system analysis and product workflow documents.
Strong delegation skills to help drive action across product, project and development stakeholders.
Influence the software development process in an evolving organization. Provide recommendations and insights on our software design, Agile, software development, release management and site reliability processes.
What you have
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
7+ years of technical program management experience
Expertise in the ever evolving Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Expertise in project planning, including estimating and scheduling in an Agile environment.
Must be self-starter, extremely detailed and analytical, and have a curious mind that enjoys digging into how things work and continuously strives to enhance the product, workflow and the process.
Comfort in a dynamic, fast-moving and collaborative work environment, with a positive attitude and solid work ethic.
Keen eye for recognizing consistent and efficient user experiences and promoting a continuous improvement culture. Experience on an agile digital product team is highly preferred.
Experience in building partnerships, mobilizing and motivating teams, influencing others at all levels of an organization, and driving change to effectively deliver on projects in a cross-functional environment
