Global Marketing: Portfolio Construction and Strategy
Distribution is responsible for the marketing, promotion and ongoing development of our product offering, for both institutional and intermediary channels globally. Distribution is a trusted partner to our clients and we enable investment solutions through active management.Areas within Distribution consist of Sales, Global Marketing, Global Product and Investment Trusts.
The Janus Henderson Portfolio Construction and Strategy (PCS) team is situated within Global Marketing and provides educational insights to our clients through proprietary analytics, thought leadership, and frequent in-person engagements. The client benefit is a better understanding of their own asset allocations and the sharing of our firm’s knowledge and insights. Our team is critical to a sophisticated, consultative sales process. It is offered as a product agnostic, objective service and an engine of thought leadership that is fully integrated with Distribution and Marketing. A successful Portfolio Strategist combines a sophisticated, rigorous, analytical skillset with a strong suite of communication skills to engage with clients and internal teams on a wide variety of strategic asset allocation, tactical allocation, manager implementation, and macroeconomic projects.
Overview of the role
As Senior Portfolio Strategist, your primary responsibility is to be an asset allocation and portfolio implementation subject matter expert and engage with your clients in this capacity. You will communicate both on the phone and in person to build and deliver customized portfolio analysis presentations and be responsible for client-facing content and thought leadership generation, to be delivered through various methods including in-person presentations, articles and blog posts. You will be expected to attend client meetings and conference presentations, as well as work with our Technology partners to design and implement scalable, client-facing portfolio analysis tools and presentations.
Duties and responsibilities
Provide and present customized analytics to a global client base in order to help create models designed to navigate various market environments
Partner with sales and technology resources to enhance Janus Henderson's Portfolio Construction and Strategy offerings and deliverables dependent on client needs and functionality
Work closely and travel with intermediary sales in a divisional alignment model to drive client engagement on a regional and territory by territory basis
Contribute concepts and ideas for client-facing content and thought leadership
Help forward PCS as the go to resource regarding portfolio analytics and general competitive insight
Research industry best practices surrounding portfolio construction techniques, risk metrics, and evolving research
Use PCS deliverables to help implement strategies that deliver results on target with client investment objectives
Work with sales to identify potential fit for Janus Henderson strategies both pre and post engagements
Position products across institutional, intermediary and international distribution channels seeking opportunities to actively promote products and drive sales
Stay current on capital markets and industry trends to further subject matter expertise in portfolio strategy
Carry out additional duties as assigned.
Technical skills and qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent; master’s degree preferred
CFA, or progress toward CFA or comparable designation, preferred
Language Skills: English and Spanish essential and Italian preferred

Product Management, portfolio construction, investment consulting or due diligence experience within financial services industry
Ability to set goals, work independently and get results
Strong knowledge of asset management business and investment strategies
Knowledge of institutional, adviser-driven, platform placement and/or insurance distribution channels with the ability to quickly learn key drivers and needs of other channels
Ability to assimilate complex and varied market data into a timely case for portfolio implementation
Solid verbal and written communication skills including strong presentation skills required
Ability to drive ideas from concept to completion through efficient project management and execution
Proven organizational, analytical and problem solving skills
Data interpretation from sources including: Morningstar Direct, Bloomberg, FactSet, eVestment and other resources
Ongoing competence in the role to be assessed, in line with applicable regulatory requirements, by:
Annual performance appraisal
Completion of all assigned compliance training
Annual attestation (Knowledge and Competence in-scope roles only)
