Roles and Responsibilities
Be responsible for assisting with delivery of an exciting portfolio of ecological surveys and helping provide robust, proportionate advice to clients on a wide range of ecological topics;
Organising, carrying out and supervising desk and field-based habitat and species surveys;
Undertake analysis, evaluation, interpretation and presentation of ecological data, including through production of Ecological Impacts Assessments and design of mitigation strategies;
Communicate effectively and professionally with other members of the ecology team, within projects and with clients by telephone, e-mail, letters, reports and in meetings;
Lead on tendering and delivery of project work as directed;
Work in an integrated team on multi-disciplinary projects, mostly in North West England And North Wales;
Manage projects within the resources available to budget and deadlines;
Lead on designing and delivering habitat and protected or otherwise notable species surveys;
Lead ecological appraisals including production of ecology chapters for environmental statements and preparing EPS licence applications;
Provide balanced and proportionate ecological advice, including through practical mitigation strategies;
Assisting with managing the technical and financial performance of ecological projects to meet budgets and deadlines;
Undertake technical reviews to ensure quality outputs; and
Assist with other administrative duties which add value to the management and development of the ecology team as directed.
The person we are looking for will ideally have:
A strong sense of ownership in both their time management and the work they produce;
Previous relevant experience working within a team and office environment;
Project and line management;
Phase 1 Habitat and/or protected species surveys, preferably breeding and VP bird surveys;
Relevant species / mitigation survey licences;
The ability to work within time restrictions and meeting deadlines; and
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and writing.
