Senior Calibration/Inspection Technician
The Senior Calibration/Inspection Technician assists with developing, implementing and maintaining the Calibration Program in accordance with industry guidelines. This role is also responsible to perform moderate to complex visual/mechanical inspections, deciding whether or not the parts conform to specifications, and documenting these decisions and supporting data. The Senior Calibration/Inspection Technician will assist leadership, as needed, with general support, leading on-the-job-training for Quality Inspectors/Technicians, and special projects.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Manage calibration schedules to ensure the calibration programs remain up-to-date and cGMP compliant.
Schedule calibration, PMs, and repair activities with process owners and third-party service providers to ensure minimum equipment downtimes.
Calibrate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair calibration equipment as needed.
Assist in the creation of Out-Of-Tolerance (OOT) calibration reports and deviations.
Assist in impact assessments of OOTs, NCRs, CAPAs and Issue Evaluations.
Provide technical support to the user groups in Quality, Operations, Maintenance, Engineering and Validation.
Apply measurement science, mathematics, physics, and engineering principles to develop, document and maintain calibration systems, procedures and methods for all instruments within scope.
Work closely with instrument user groups to help optimize instrument performance and usage.
Driving the understanding of metrology technology to assure that our capabilities meet technical requirements and represent the most appropriate technology available.
Provide analytical support for the selection and validation of measurement and test equipment, and calibrations.
Partner with engineering & quality to investigate and resolve process and test measurement systems.
Develop, implement, and sustain metrology documentation.
Perform moderate to complex visual/mechanical inspections.
Accept or reject non-conforming product and recommend disposition.
Works from blueprints, diagrams, dial indicators, preset micrometers, scales, fixtures, customer.
Work with minimum supervision and show initiative/self-starter.
Expected Areas of Competence
Experience in planning maintenance and/or calibration activities
Experience investigating GMP calibration or instrument failures
Experience in preparing technical instructions/procedures
Demonstrated expertise in measurement instrumentation theory & method development
In-depth understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
In-depth knowledge on use of calipers, micrometers, optical comparators, and programmable equipment
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and read blueprints
Ability work in a team setting
Must be able to read and communicate in English
Working knowledge of Word & Excel software applications
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks & responsibilities with competing priorities
Education/Experience Requirements
High School Diploma or GED required; Associate Degree or vocational tech certificate, preferred
ASQ Certified Calibration Technician (CCT), Certified Quality Inspector (CQI), or Certified Quality Technician (CQT), a plus.
5 years previous production experience with good manufacturing practices is required
Compensation and Benefits
Hourly Pay Range: $20.82 - $29.13 (salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the candidate, and alignment with market data).
In addition to a salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus based upon company performance.
