Lockheed Martin Mechanical Integration Lead in Littleton, Colorado

As a Spacecraft Technical Lead for structures and mechanical engineers, you will be responsible for definition, interpretation and start up of design requirements. As the Lead you will ensure task delegation, coordination and execution of hardware designs including development and integration of hardware custom and procured mechanical structural assemblies. You'll ensure designs adhere to LM common processes and drive process improvements into the design culture.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

- Lead of a multidisciplinary team of mechanical engineers including structures, propulsion, cabling, stress and thermal systems. This involves open communication between customers and the team.

- Provide solution based technical mentoring to improve program performance. This includes driving performance management, career development, and personnel related activities.

- Assist with staffing to align with program requirements; plan job assignments/rotations to sustain engineering capabilities.

- Drive the program to error free design using proven tools, processes and predictive measure such as timely technical and programmatic status for all mission-specific design engineering activities.

- Assist with program reviews including SRR, PDR, CDR and Mission Success Reviews.

- Lead aerospace design practices and Common Integrated Process System (CIPS) requirements (including documentation of deliverable hardware designs are follows customer requirements and LM Space practices).

- The position may require travel to help with the success of the mission.

Basic Qualifications:

• Strong technical skills in aerospace mechanical engineering, and/or full life cycle (requirements definition, design, analysis, hardware/software integration, support of procurement, fabrication, integration/test, and delivery) experience for mechanical assemblies.

• Demonstrated leadership experience managing a multidisciplinary team of Mechanical Engineers

• Experience with problem resolution, failure investigation, root cause analysis and implementation of corrective action plans

• Experience in engineering project management including: managing suppliers, BOEs, technical evaluations, proposals and negotiations, tracking and development of cost and schedule.

• Demonstrated ability for technical mentoring. Ability to work closely with engineering functional and program management, and manufacturing

Desired Skills:

• MS in a related discipline with at least 12 years of related experience

• Experience managing NASA spacecraft program

• Considered a technical leader in mechanical design, analysis, integration or test

• Certified Principal Engineer (CPE)

• Extensive experience in mechanical hardware design with CAD tools

• Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills with technical and non-technical audiences

• Demonstrated commitment to development and deployment of productivity/performance improvements and leveraging new technologies.
