Saint-Gobain Plant Engineer in Little Rock, Arkansas

Responsibilities:CertainTeed Roofing is looking for a Plant Engineer to join their team in their Little Rock, AR facility. This position is responsible for designing, planning, installing, and maintaining plant systems, facilities, and equipment. The Plant Engineer may perform maintenance and repairs or be responsible for managerial duties. This position will have a healthy mix of capital projects and general improvement projects. The Plant Engineer reports in to the Plant Manager.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Provide leadership in assuring employee physical well-being and safety by the development, promotion and enforcement of an uncompromising safety attitude in both supervision and production employees and contractors. Maintains good safety practices measured by a safety record that exceeds and leads the industry.

  • Design, develop, initiate and present innovative engineering ideas for viable new equipment designs and mechanisms for production machinery to promote more efficient and profitable processes.

  • Direct those activities necessary to ensure that Russellville maintains compliance with all corporate, local, state and federal environmental regulations managing all environmental audits, reporting and corrective actions.

  • Manage all aspects of facilities maintenance including local I.T. support, utilities and buildings care.

  • Maintain continuous dialogue and communication with the Plant Manager and as needed to keep him apprised of the status of safety, quality, production, schedules, loads, problems and opportunities available to maximize efficient operations and to enhance the overall operations of the company manufacturing operations. Displays a personal and professional commitment to the continuous improvement process.

  • Participate and/or lead WCM projects.

  • Design, develop, initiate and present innovative engineering ideas for viable new equipment designs and mechanisms for production machinery to promote more efficient and profitable processes.

  • Analyze capital equipment needs with respect to new technologies and business needs. Investigate, plan, and implement such capital projects. Update technical documents and lists as needed including all manuals, machine drawings, P&ID, facility layouts and spare parts.

  • Contributes to the accuracy and effectiveness of the planning and goal setting process by developing, recommending, implementing and achieving operational plans, goals, budgets, and capital requirements. Measurement of success includes the measurement of shipment on-time performance, direct labor productivity, world class quality levels and leading edge product cycle times.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline with a preference in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering

  • Minimum of 4 – 5 years of experience in manufacturing.

  • Knowledge of computer systems and software applications.

  • Must demonstrate core competencies of engagement in safe work behaviors, effective communications, listening, and organizational skills.

  • Must be capable of analyzing complex operational issues using six sigma tools and determining solutions.

  • Good interpersonal skills, planning, organization and prioritizing are essential. Communication skills, both written and oral are critical as this position must be able to interact with all levels of the organization.

  • Requires excellent leadership skills and the ability to provide innovative solutions within the area of expertise.
