POSITION TITLE: PUG MILL OPERATOR "A" LABOR GRADE: Production PAY: $17.25 WORK WEEK: M-F 7AM-3:30PM
From 6 to 12 months to become familiar with operations of various machines, setups, methods and procedures.
Under general supervision, set up and operate vacuum pug mill, designed to extrude green clay in billet form for subsequent shaping of porcelain insulators. Specific duties involve changing nozzles, tips, rings, mandrels, and comparable machine parts; controlling machine operation to extrude rectangular, tubular, and similar complex types of ware; loading of ware to skids and movement of ware to drying area. Miscellaneous allied duties necessitated by the pugging function are also involved.
Must be able to read & write and do arithmetic such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, including decimals & fractions. Use of formulas, charts, tables, drawings specifications & schedules, together with the use of adjustable measuring equipment.
Moderate physical effort applied frequently.
Somewhat disagreeable; exposure to heat, noise, dust, etc.
