Purpose of Role The Shift Manager is responsible for imparting Rehrig Pacific's vision, mission and values on every production team member within the manufacturing facility. Through effective leadership and management, they must drive the critical performance metrics of Safety, Job Training, Hiring and Onboarding, Growth and Development as well as perform high level root cause analysis on identified improvement opportunities. The Shift Manager, who at times may be the highest leadership position within the plant during evenings or weekends, must effectively collaborate and communicate with peers as well as other cross-functional teams in reliability, quality, shipping, and planning. Shift Managers oversee Supervisors, Floor Assistants and Operators. Areas of Accountability and ( Core Performance Behaviors ) (Lives our Values) * Leads by and strengthens Rehrig Pacific Company's Core Values - Coaches, mentors and leads shift team member and Rehrig Pacific employees in accordance to our Core Values and Strategic Vision. * Ensures no employee enters the plant facility without receiving Day 1 MVP training. (Manages Complexity) * Monitor production performance indicators and take appropriate action to identify root cause of variances, engaging technical teams or management as necessary for resolution. * (Ensures accountability) * Identify and act on lead measures to support plant achievement of scrap reduction and cycle efficiency targets. * Demonstrate safety leadership and maintain a safe working environment for all employees. Lead by example and drive accountability for safety within the production team by increasing team safety awareness, ensuring use of safe work practices and compliance with safety rules, and taking immediate action to resolve safety concerns. * Employ lean management tools for housekeeping, process improvement, and accountability * (Manages Conflict) (Drives Engagement) * Develop a continuous process for recognition that drives company values, motivates, and retains associates * Ensure all associates receive quarterly KA reviews, detailed annual PEAs, and continuous value-added feedback * (Directs Work) * Manage the planning and deployment of resources within the shift to efficiently meet customer expectations. * Coordinate work schedules, engaging staffing agencies as needed to support fluctuating labor requirements. * Understand the daily work that all associates are exposed to and provide resources to eliminate gaps General Responsibilities * Follow plant cleanliness, Food Safety requirements and organizational methods, (5S) expectations and practices. * Perform Shift-Hand off meeting with other Shift Managers/Supervisors. * Update Onboarding and Training VC * Ensure end of shift report is sent daily * Uses improvement time to drive Safer, Better, Faster, Cheaper * Collaborate with other shifts and departments to improve performance * Use the LSW as an alignment and organizational tool * Work with your team and other departments on improvement initiatives.
