Description

A Robert Half Direct client is seeking a talented Data Architect to develop global data architecture governance and management.

Reporting to the Global Enterprise Architect, the Data Architect serves as the primary architect for our client's data strategy. The Data Architect works closely with information technology and business leaders/partners to define the vision, develop the strategy and implement the data architecture for enterprise data.

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Define data management and governance practices then shepherding into execution with global delivery teams.

  • Ensure applications and engineering teams have the necessary information and guidance to implement data solutions.

  • Oversee data analysis and logical data modeling

  • Provide technical mentoring to other IT staff to support skills development.

  • This position will play a critical role in the successful movement of current BI and analytics platforms to our client's new cloud analytics infrastructure.

Data Management Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain enterprise data strategies and roadmaps

  • Work closely with senior business leaders to understand their needs and unique challenges with data then translate that into roadmaps within the application and BI / Analytics teams for action

  • Partner with analytics teams to move from on-prem to cloud-based analytics

  • Guide and oversee data lake and warehouse design concepts and platform using industry best practices

  • Partner with enterprise architecture team and application teams to determine best practices and solutions

Data Quality and Governance:

  • Design and champion master data management and data quality capabilities

  • Contribute to the establishment of a Data Governance Practice

  • Participate in the creation of standards and processes that maintain the quality of client's data domains

  • Design and recommend data policies and governance structures and control frameworks for the ongoing management of data

Requirements

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Expertise in data architecture and design for both structured and unstructured data

  • Knowledge of business intelligence best practice processes, tools, standards and practices

  • Ability to engage productively with a wide range of program stakeholders, including business leads, vendors, technical design/delivery teams, project managers

  • Ability to influence stakeholders and drive effective decision making on solution elements

  • Ability to present solution designs in the most appropriate style for different stakeholder groups

  • Understanding and experience of IT governance processes

Experience & Qualifications:

  • 9+ years of experience with data modelling, data management and governance

  • 3+ years of experience with Cloud BI/Analytics implementation and architecture

  • Experience with/involvement in creating and implementing data governance

  • Experience with big data, semi-structured data, BI tools and visual reporting platforms

  • Experience migrating from on-premise enterprise data warehouse to cloud-based analytics

  • Familiarity working with one major cloud-based data platform - AWS, Azure, GCP

  • Nice to have certifications in Data Management or Data Governance (e.g. DAMA)

  • Nice to have hands-on experience or certification in TOGAF

Required Education:

  • BS / BA in Computer Science, Business, Mathematics or Engineering or 10 years equivalent work experience

  • Superior business analysis and problem-solving skills

  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality

  • Exceptional verbal and written communications skills, with an ability to express complex technical concepts in business terms

  • Must have excellent client-facing skills; solid teamwork and interpersonal skills; strong ability to work independently when appropriate

  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and projects simultaneously with a track record of project completion
