Job Summary:

This position provides financial support for the Information Technology leadership with a strong emphasis on a balance of analysis and accounting responsibilities.

The position requires strong IT financial acumen to manage, track, and communicate all aspects of the project monthly financial summaries and ongoing daily activities around operational spend on IT support cost. It also requires an accounting background, attention to and interest in detail work combined with an analytical mind. This is a hands-on role focused on accurate financials and analysis to ensure appropriate recording as well as input into decisions to stay on budget.

The ideal candidate is a strong detailed-oriented problem solver who works and communicates diligently and accurately with the CIO and directs with the objective of managing spend against the IT budget.

This is a great opportunity for someone with strong aptitude and experience with numbers and IT spend to implement process improvements for efficiency and simplification.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Organize the management and tracking of various IT financial activities for projects and support.

  • Collaborate with CIO, IT leaders, and project managers to compile, and communicate budgets and forecasts.

  • Prepare and distribute monthly / quarterly financial results and budget variance analysis, research and reconcile variances, and forecast updates.

  • General tracking and coding of IT services, labor, consulting, hardware and software, and issue purchase orders, log invoices and capital requests.

  • Work with IT project managers and project assistants to leverage vendor renewals and to forecast budget impacts and timing of expenses including prepaid, SaaS, asset accounting, depreciation, and business unit chargebacks.

  • Follow Greenbrier accounting processes and ensure all chargebacks and allocations align with the budget approach.

  • Provide additional support as needed including developing presentation material using Word, PowerBI/analytics tools, Excel, PowerPoint.

  • Assists with CIO and other VP level special projects.

Qualifications and Experience :

  • Bachelor degree required. Concentration in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or Information Technology is preferred.

  • CPA, CMA or MBA is preferred. Public company experience of similar size preferred.

  • Minimum of 7 to10 years of relevant work experience as IT Financial Analyst or Accounting role with financial analysis responsibilities with an interest in detail work.

  • Proficient in PC software applications, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and graphics. Advanced Excel skills required, including budget views, formulas, and pivot tables.

  • Data orientation and expertise in analytical tools -- including Powerbase.

  • Experienced at formulating and presenting budget information and explaining variances.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with strong working knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation, grammar, contemporary office practices and procedures.

  • High energy, resourceful, quick learner with excellent follow-through and collaboration skills.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with access to sensitive information and correspondence.

  • Ability to undertake complex tasks, analyze them and develop useful actionable conclusions or recommendations.

  • Intuitive ability to utilize experience, knowledge and situational context to make well-reasoned logical decisions and conclusions.

  • Ability to work effectively in team environment and comfortable interacting with a variety of people both internally and externally.

  • Can work with minimum supervision and has proven ability to complete and implement projects, even while working remotely.

  • Self-motivated team player who has fresh ideas to improve processes the impact quality data, timeliness, ease of analysis, and accuracy.
