JBS USA FOOD LAB TECHNOLOGIST in Lafayette, Colorado

We are building our team and looking for a Food Lab Tech based on-site at our new corporate office in Lafayette, CO who will help us create the best plant-based protein company in the world. As a part of our Research and Development (R&D) team, this role will support the creation and improvement of our plant-based protein products. The Tech will frequently collaborate with Product Developers and Food Scientists, as well as the Sales and Marketing Teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the R&D Laboratory and Kitchen and install quality systems to ensure a highly organized and clean environment

  • Oversee Preventive Maintenance Program of the R&D and Culinary Kitchen equipment

  • Prepare and ship sales samples and ensure proper organization of the process

  • Operate in a USDA inspected facility following all the rules and regulations associated with this requirement.

  • Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions to mix/blend formulations for sample production.

  • Assist product developers in sample production, daily paper work, out going shipping and incoming receiving.

  • Additional tasks deemed necessary by the Director of R&D

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.S. degree preferred

  • Prior experience in a Food Laboratory or Processing Facility strongly preferred

  • Basic office experience a plus

  • Must be able to work in a team environment

  • Strong food safety background through experience with a facility under USDA, FDA, health department or through other training

  • High work ethic, dependable, and be able to work independently

  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills

  • Must be able to handle physical activity which includes the following: lift minimum 50 lbs. and stand on your feet for long periods of time (4-6) hrs

  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written

  • Proven mechanical/equipment and computer skills are required

The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits:

  • Benefits: Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment

  • Paid Time Off: sick leave, vacation, and holidays

  • 401(k): company match begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule

  • Base salary range of $50,000 - 55,000
