APTIM Electrical Designer in Knoxville, Tennessee

Job Summary:

Entry level electrical designer. Performs a variety of design work to support electrical engineers in the initial planning and design phases of projects. Develop detailed design drawings for power distribution, controls, instrumentation, and fire detection/alarming systems and equipment. May also support procurement and construction phases of projects with design knowledge and experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed electrical drawings using computer-aided (CADD) software.

  • Coordinate with and consult Engineers and other discipline Engineers/Designers to design, lay out, or detail components and systems and to resolve technical and other issues.

  • Conform to applicable engineering codes and standards as well as to company policies and procedures.

  • Other duties include collecting and compiling field data as required, assisting with preparation of material estimates, and providing other entry level duties as assigned.

  • Organizes own work to meet deadlines set by others.

  • Communicates information, asks questions, and checks for understanding.

  • Contributes to a team environment.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Has basic knowledge of theories, practices and procedures in electrical engineering technology.

  • Requires Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology (or related degree)

  • 0 -- 2 years related experience

  • Strong computer skills including training and/or experience with CADD (AutoCAD, REVIT, and/or MicroStation, etc.) and with Office products (Word, Excel, etc.)

  • Good verbal and writing skills.

  • Factory, field, and/or construction experience a plus.

  • Practical electrical skills a plus.

  • Candidates must be willing to travel for infrequent field assignments.
