APTIM Electrical Designer in Knoxville, Tennessee
Entry level electrical designer. Performs a variety of design work to support electrical engineers in the initial planning and design phases of projects. Develop detailed design drawings for power distribution, controls, instrumentation, and fire detection/alarming systems and equipment. May also support procurement and construction phases of projects with design knowledge and experience.
Develop detailed electrical drawings using computer-aided (CADD) software.
Coordinate with and consult Engineers and other discipline Engineers/Designers to design, lay out, or detail components and systems and to resolve technical and other issues.
Conform to applicable engineering codes and standards as well as to company policies and procedures.
Other duties include collecting and compiling field data as required, assisting with preparation of material estimates, and providing other entry level duties as assigned.
Organizes own work to meet deadlines set by others.
Communicates information, asks questions, and checks for understanding.
Contributes to a team environment.
Has basic knowledge of theories, practices and procedures in electrical engineering technology.
Requires Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology (or related degree)

Strong computer skills including training and/or experience with CADD (AutoCAD, REVIT, and/or MicroStation, etc.) and with Office products (Word, Excel, etc.)
Good verbal and writing skills.
Factory, field, and/or construction experience a plus.
Practical electrical skills a plus.
Candidates must be willing to travel for infrequent field assignments.
