Job Responsibilities:

Care Assistants provide basic, uncomplicated patient care and assist with unit/department operations under the supervision of registered nurses. Assignment of job responsibilities are as delegated by registered nurses assigned to supervise the care assistant and in accordance with this job description.

Job Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

  • Medical Terminology

  • PC Skills

  • BLS Certification required upon hire

  • 1-2 years’ experience working with children/families

  • If not a CNA, one of the following criteria must be met:

  • Enrolled in a professional (BSN/AD) or practical (LPN) nursing education program and have successfully completed the fundamentals in nursing course

  • Within the past three (3) years, was a professional (BSN/AD) or practical (LPN) nursing licensure candidate who failed to pass the state licensure examination in any state

  • Worked as a nurse assistant, emergency medical technician (EMT), or surgical technician within the past three (3) years

  • Completed an UAP (unlicensed assistive personnel) program in Missouri or another State (that meets current regulatory requirements) within the past three (3) years

  • Completed a professional (BSN/AD) or practical (LPN) nursing program outside the US and is awaiting the licensure examination in this country

  • Ability to produce the volume of work expected for this job

  • Produces work that is accurate, neat and adheres to standards

  • Understands appropriate procedures and theory effective in utilizing materials and equipment

  • Is accountable to carry out instructions and fulfill job responsibilities

  • Willing to assume additional work or change work methods; receptive to job irregularities

  • Demonstrates interest and enthusiasm at work

  • Maintains a professional appearance

  • Communicates effectively with staff, co-workers, patients, and members of the management team

  • Promotes the philosophy of the department and strives to deliver quality care

  • Supports decisions made by the management team

  • Demonstrates the ability to work in a culturally diverse environment

  • Software Application Skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Skills)
