With exciting things ahead in 2020, we are looking for a Benefit Analyst to join our team!
The Benefit Analyst provides proposals and premium comparisons to our benefits plan clients. The position requires a high level of organization, strong analytical skills and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Coordinates RFP?s submitted by clients and prospects
Prepares premium rate spreadsheets for MI and OH
Learns insurance carrier online quoting portals
Compares benefits and rates
Reviews proposals for accuracy
Calculates COBRA premiums (Premium equivalent)
Calculates expected claim liability for self-funded dental and vision plans
Calculates HRA liability
Performs other duties as assigned
Education and/or Experience:
High school graduate or equivalency required
At least two years' experience in customer service related group benefits field required
Michigan Life & Health license or ability to obtain within the first 6 months of employment required
Ability to work with Excel at the highest level, including formatting and design required
Ability to use Excel to perform complex mathematical functions required
Knowledge of HIPPA privacy laws preferred
Works in well-lit, pleasant, smoke-free office.
The noise level in the work environment is quiet.
Requires infrequent travel for the purpose of attending conferences, seminars, continuing education sessions or company meetings.
Requires the ability and willingness to be available during Agency hours of operation and to work extra hours when requested by management.
Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
Regularly requires the use hands and arms for keyboarding, writing, etc. and involves periodic repetitive movement.
Able to stoop, bend and move intermittently in order to do filing and move equipment and supplies necessary for job function.
Requires frequent attention to detail/concentration on figures, paperwork, data, etc.
Occasional pressures related to meeting deadlines and fulfilling scheduling requirements.
Occasional distracting influences such as people, phone calls, noise and so forth.
Simultaneous handling of multiple tasks on a frequent basis.
Frequent intermittent or cyclical work pressures.
Extremely high organizational skills with the ability to multitask
