What you can expect
Our unit is a part of a team in Cologne, Germany, that shapes future crop production and provide agronomic insights to foster a disruptive crop production business model. Become an active part of the pest and disease modeling community to further enhance innovative modeling frameworks.
In this position you are responsible for pest and disease modeling tasks with a specific focus on key crops in the Japanese market.
You have the ability to lead as well as coordinate discussions with agronomic experts in the countries.
Moreover, you will combine model outcomes and translate it to optimal decision making for farmers based on plant pathology and disease management understanding.
You will frequently evaluate model performance KIPs and share them transparenty within the entire DF community as well as take measures for continuous improvement.
Furthermore, you will collaborate with other competency centers within the Digital Farming organization to prioritize modeling needs from a market perspective as well as operationalize the models with IT/Engineering team.
Last but not least, you are responsible for the data preparation and data cleaning in close alignment with the Data Competency Center.
What we expect
PhD or Master in agricultural science or a equivalent field
good understanding of plant disease epidemics and modelling
strong programming skills in data analysis and model development
ability to apply machine learning in time series forecasting
fluent English language skills, ideally also basic Japanese language skills
willingness to travel internationally
