The Clinical Informatics Dental position supports the Dental staff in the use and adoption of the Electronic Dental Record (EDR) applications and systems. As a Clinical Informaticist, the position works collaboratively with all dental staff to leverage technology to increase efficiency and improve patient outcomes in the dental office. This position must have excellent customer service skills, be able to work alternative schedules in order to support staff and be comfortable with computers and computer applications. Additionally, this position will be required to learn the medical electronic health record, as support and training overlap within the dental practice for medical and dental records. Travel will be required.
Drive the adoption and efficient use of Electronic Dental Record applications and systems through training and coaching of clinical and non-clinical dental staff within the patient care setting. Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot dental software upgrades.
Travel to remote field sites for training, troubleshooting, and workflow process enhancement. Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot dental imaging devices.
Assist with maintenance of the IT infrastructure and functionality of accessory products (CAD/CAM, intraoral cameras, and 2D/3D digital radiography).
Develop and maintain training content in a variety of formats.
Dental software and hardware support periodically as needed
Collaborate with the Clinical Informatics Team to implement, support and maintain the electronic health record applications and systems. Enhance and develop new EHR functionality and solutions in support of clinical processes and procedures.
Provide EHR subject matter expertise and innovation in support of medical staff and improved patient outcomes, with an emphasis on dental processes.
Software and workflow related troubleshooting in collaboration with technical personnel as needed.
Assist IT Help Desk with identity management, to include account maintenance and permissions.
Will be required to participate in an on-call rotation for night and weekend support of SEARHC clinical applications.
Other duties as assigned
Minimum 5 years work experience in a dental setting; clinical experience preferred
Minimum 2 years work experience with clinical information systems
Minimum 1 year work experience with computer technology such as configuration, installation, and generating reports.
Licensure and Certification
Current active and unrestricted license in field of dental practice/training preferred. Experience and training for applicants without a state licensure requirement may be substituted for a license.
Example licenses include but not limited to: Hygienist, dental aid, assistant, Health informatics
Clinical Informatics training and experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Dental, medical, scheduling, radiology, laboratory, and document scanning systems.
Dental/Medical standards of care and best practices in outpatient and inpatient settings.
Clinical information and information technology systems.
Effective administration skills in interacting with staff and patients
TJC, HIPAA, MACRA, CMS and other regulatory requirements
Interpersonal, written, and oral communication with a wide variety of internal and external customers.
Effective use of MS Windows, Office 365, Dental software and other common business communication, collaboration, and support applications and services.
Experience with video creation and basic editing skills
Problem-solve and practice good judgment.
Work effectively across a broad range of SEARHC sites and staff.

Research and analyze dental/medical standards of care and best practices as applicable to SEARHC.

Repair clinical hardware such as intra-oral digital x-ray sensors and panoramic x-ray units or approve their replacement if not repairable
