Bayer US LLC Plant Productivity Project Lead in Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico


The primary responsibilities of this role, Plant Productivity Project Lead, are to:

The ideal candidate would work out of our Chesterfield Mo site; however we will consider applicants that can work out of other locations such as Huxley la, Williamsburg Ia, Stanton Mn, Stonington Il, Jerseyville Il, Maui Hi, Marana Az, Juana Diaz Pr, or any Bayer Crop Science Research and Development site or Bayer Crop Science Seed Production site in the United States.

Lead the design, execution, and analysis of research in plant biology innovations and solve critical challenges in the areas of plant productivity;

Identify research opportunities for technical innovation in assigned areas;

Identify and implement new technologies to continuously improve process;

Troubleshoot actively and problem-solve to optimize research procedures - IP/FTO;

Organize, document, and report research outcomes in a timely manner and partner with patent science to capture Intellectual Property (IP) and secure FTO for novel concepts;

Collaborate with cross-functional teams across the organization to develop new concepts, and implement research outcomes across global regions and/or multiple crops;

Collaborate closely with technical platform partners in aligning operational project priorities with technical resources;

Use these relationships to co-create new ways of solving operational challenges across our global nursery sites Leadership;

Be responsible to provide project leadership and accountable to share technical expertise through matrix relationships;

Lead people and teams to best leverage and develop their strengths Mentors peers/colleagues in areas of expertise;

Propose and influence value-driven capital spend and manage significant expense budget to ensure timely generation of high-quality data across multiple geographies;

Align core competencies and activities with business objective;

Develop project plans, deliver Return on Investment (ROI) and strategic recommendations;

Be responsible to make progress towards key project milestones while communicating timely status updates and any challenges or revisions to planned next steps;

Communicate effectively study findings internally and externally as needed;

Travel up to 25% to regional sites, business meetings, and external conferences to develop business relationships and understanding of leading-edge technologies.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science with at least 10 years of relevant experience OR Masters of Science with at least eight years of relevant experience OR Ph.D. with at least four years of relevant experience;

At least five years of working experience in project management and/or process engineering;

At least three years of managing people or indirectly leading people via project teams;

Broad technical expertise in crop productivity, plant physiology, and/or reproductive biology with demonstrated ability to implement step-change improvements to solve business challenges;

Ability to lead decisions based on complex data sets and ensuring experimental key questions are aligned with project plans;

Good knowledge of process management tools and skills in technical software;

Demonstrate an expanded sphere of technical influence.
