Position description

The Division of Hematology & Oncology in the department of Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL is seeking a board eligible/ board-certified full-time clinical faculty member hematologist to strengthen our non-malignant hematology section.

Ideally, the candidate will be experienced in the field although exceptional new fellowship graduates will be considered. The successful candidate must be accomplished in the specific area of non-malignant hematology and have a strong interest in translational research and academics. The candidate we seek will be expected to deliver the highest quality of clinical care to the local population and encouraged to participate in cutting edge clinical protocol development. The qualified candidate will receive a faculty appointment at Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education and competitive compensation, at a rank commensurate with experience and accomplishments.

Candidates will provide consultative individualized care for patients in the inpatient setting at our state of the art 304 bed Mayo Clinic Hospital and in the outpatient setting at the Mangurian building in collaboration with more than 600 Mayo experts across virtually every medical and surgical specialty at our Mayo clinic campus in Jacksonville. The selected candidate will practice at the Dorothy J. and Harry T. Mangurian Jr. Building, opened in August 2018, which expands and integrates services for patients with complex cancer and has 46 infusion therapy suites. The division of Hematology & Oncology in Jacksonville currently includes 32 board-certified physicians and 18 advanced practice providers that support medical hematology and oncology. Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville is rapidly expanding. Construction planning for an integrated hematology/oncology facility to be completed in 2023 is underway.

Our practice includes direct access to Mayo Medical Labs services including routine and complex hematology laboratory services such as:

  • Hematopathology morphology

  • Cell Kinetics

  • Metabolic Hematology

  • Molecular Hematopathology

  • Special Coagulation

  • Special DNA Coagulation

Teaching responsibilities include teaching hematology-oncology fellows, medical residents and medical students. The successful candidate will have clinical and teaching experience in the area of non-malignant hematology. Clinical responsibilities include care of patients with disorders of hemostasis and thrombosis, and general benign hematologic conditions. Participation in clinical trials is an important part of this role.

License or certification

Candidates must be board-certified or board-eligible in Hematology and eligible for licensure in Florida.
