Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) is seeking a Project Manager to join our Iuka, Mississippi location. We are a world-class manufacturer of large composite rocket structures, for commercial and military applications. You will support plant wide manufacturing improvements in a low volume, high technical environment. Project Manager Responsibilities are broad and rewarding; you are the direct interface to internal customer in this position. As the Project Manager you are responsible to support in any capacity to ensure Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost goals meet the program requirements. This role will be integral to plant wide quality and mission assurance of our products. Our work is mission critical and directly contributes to science and exploration, national security, and the betterment of people's everyday lives.

The Project Manager will be responsible for supporting the Program Manager in all aspects of cost, schedule and technical performance. Roles and responsibilities include:

  • Assure that all aspects of the design and manufacturing processes are controlled and that qualified baselines are thoroughly managed including full traceability to the qualified baseline as Integrated Product Team (IPT) Leader

  • Generates and distributes agenda & minutes of IPT meetings with assigned actions

  • Assures timely and effective root cause investigation and corrective action implementation in support of MRB disposition

  • Ensures design and process changes (Tooling, Facilities, Software, Materials, Process Techniques and Flow) are reviewed for potential impacts and approved in a controlled manner as defined by the Program

  • Holds formal IPT meetings with sufficient frequency to ensure the IPT is functioning as an integrated team

  • Provide oversight to assure that manufacturing and material schedules conform to delivery requirements and implement corrective action for variances

  • Engage in the preparation of program-related meetings, proposals, business plans, work statements & specifications, operating budgets, and financial terms/conditions of contract

  • Engage in the preparation and execution of daily programmatic activities, as directed

  • Act as a customer contact for program activities, leading program review sessions with the customer to discuss cost, schedule, and technical performance

  • Support establishment of milestones and monitors adherence to Integrated Master Plans and Schedules, identifies program problems and recommends solutions

  • Assist in the oversight of the earned value management system (EVMS) process, ensuring that input from CAMs is timely and accurate

  • Implement and maintain a robust, proactive Risk/Opportunity Management process

  • Support development of new business opportunities, or expands current lines of business with the customer

Travel is 10% within the US or as needed based on program requirements to ensure a successful mission.

This position may be filled at the Project Management or Principal Project Management level.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

Project Management

  • Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of relevant work experience or a Masters degree and 1+ years of relevant experience. Note: An additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • Exposure to resource allocation

  • Familiarity with project management software (e.g. MS Project)

  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment

Principal Project Management

  • Bachelor's degree and 6+ years of relevant work experience or a Masters degree and 4+ years of relevant experience. Note: An additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • Exposure to resource allocation

  • Familiarity with project management software (e.g. MS Project)

  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Aerospace or defense experience

  • Composite product experience
