Pacific Western Bank Senior Loan Analyst / Underwriter in Irvine, California

Overview

This senior analyst will analyze, evaluate, underwrite, and assist in structuring and closing potential lending opportunities. The incumbent will also assist in portfolio management, including collecting reporting and spreading property and guarantor financials. The successful candidate will focus on financial analysis, modeling, research, site due diligence, and credit application preparation. Finally, this role will work closely on new transactions with Loan Processors, Vice Presidents and Credit Administration.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluating transaction requests to determine quality of opportunity and potential loan structure to maximize return on investment

  • Identifying specific merits, risks, and mitigants for each transaction

  • Constructing and maintaining detailed financial models and developing sensitivity analyses around key economic drivers

  • Drafting internal approval memoranda and term sheets

  • Performing industry, company, and property financial research and due diligence

  • Supporting legal documentation and execution of new transactions

  • Assisting in all aspects of origination activity leading to closing of new transactions

  • Collect and manage borrower and guarantor reporting

  • Spread personal, property and business financial reporting in CASH SUITE

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Minimum of 2 years of total experience in financial service sector (private equity, specialty finance, real estate finance, mezzanine firm, investment bank, or accounting)

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Significant experience with financial modeling and evaluating a Company or property's historical and projected financial cash flows

  • Strong analytical skills including ability to: perform cash flow analysis as well as in-depth industry and market analysis

  • Excel and Word proficiency required

  • Superior interpersonal skills.

  • Experience with senior management and sophisticated financial sponsors

  • Strong written and oral communications skills

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment

  • There will be some on-the-job training; however, the candidate should be a “self-starter”

Preferred:

  • Degree or coursework in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field

  • Familiarity with and ability to analyze personal tax returns
