About this role

This role is to work as a Solutions Architect as part of our Solution and Architectural Design Function. If you have experience of product modelling and have the skills and experience to perform in the role of a Solutions Architect we would love to hear from you!

You will be responsible for driving consistent and optimal definition and usage of catalogue managed products across our IT estate.

You will be leading a team and championing activity across the business which means you will be playing a very visible role in the business and have engagement with several stakeholders including those at a senior level.

The role has a huge impact on BT as an organisation as you are responsible for the effectiveness of the systems at the disposal of our colleagues.

Having a grounding in technology/system design and integrations will mean you have the required knowledge to be able to perform effectively in this role.

You'll have the following responsibilities

  • Accountable for defining a comprehensive, normalised, modularised product model/catalogue which addresses quoting, ordering, fulfilment, billing and service management requirements.

  • Creates and owns technical solutions for a domain, cross domain or portfolio of work within a specific technology area and delivers work autonomously.

  • Integrates and implements end-to-end solutions across customers and business areas.

  • Executes technical roadmap for specific area or domain.

  • Provides recommendation on development budget for the next year by understanding/explaining the technology evolution of the product/system/process etc.

  • Leads on design assurance before integrating into end to end solutions.

You'll have the following skills & experience

  • Should have prior knowledge on TMF’s Information Framework or similar industry wide standard.

  • UML experience

  • Should have deep knowledge of at least one telecommunications related technology covering either of the following areas: SDWAN/LAN/Voice/Compute

  • Should have prior hands-on experience on modelling of a product catalogue in a Technology/ Telecommunications space

  • Should have good knowledge of software CRM technologies (e.g Salesforce, SAP, Oracle) and how/where product modelling fits on these tools

  • Coached and inspired team members to improve their level of performance

  • Managed headcount and departmental costs

  • Made decisions in ambiguous situations using incomplete information or differing opinions (e.g. divided team loyalties or unclear deliverables).

  • Actively participated in strategy setting sessions.
