Position Summary

The Bailiff provides assistance to the Judge and Court, assisting with conducting open court sessions and in the operation of the court. This is not a security position.

Position Responsibilities

Assists with conducting open court sessions.

Updates files and queues and works in the Court's on-line case management system.

Assists judicial officers and parties during court proceedings, including remote hearings and proceedings.

Answers court telephones and responds to questions from court representatives, the Clerk's office, attorneys, parties and the general public.

Assists with the effective management of the court calendar through confirmation of hearings with attorneys.

Assists with jurors during jury trials.

Assists with other duties and responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum of a high school diploma or GED is required. Knowledge and understanding of legal terminology and criminal procedures preferred. Strong proven computer skills are required. Excellent communication and organizational skills are essential, as is strong attention to detail.

Must have the ability to effectively interact with diverse groups of individuals.

Salary is based on applicable experinece. Bi-lingual skills in Spanish or Burmese beneficial, with a bi-lingual salary enhancement available. Educational enhancements for an Associate's or Bachelor's degree are also available.

Marion County residency required within six months of date of hire.
