At Covanta Indianapolis, the Ash Systems Supervisor wii supervise and coordinate all tasks necessary to ensure safe and efficient Operation of the Ash House, LDI offloading area, and Ash transfer belts. Directly supervises the mixing/blending and load out of all byproducts including ash, bulkies/unburnt materials, ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The main trust for this position is to maximize uptime, ensure reliability, and improve performance of the metals recovery systems.
Management and coordination of the ash house residue products and commodities. This will include scheduling material pick up, shipping, quality control, metal recovery and ash percentages and system efficiencies.
Management and coordination of KPI's pertaining to system availability and performance.
Continuous Improvement managment, performance management, and contingency planning.
Management and coordination of LDI system performance, maintenance and operational planning.
Supervision, coordination and planning of the facility housekeeping staff.
Operations Department time sheet review and tracking.
Budget preparation for the following account cost centers:
Coordinate Operations Department outage cleaning schedules.
Direct Supervision of the following Operations personnel:
Plant Service Workers
Performing all ash sampling.
Leading and coordinating plant preservation and beautification efforts.
Responsible for monitoring, preventing and controlling any and all fugitive emissions from the ash plant.
Coordination and planning of all site roadway, sewer and grounds cleaning efforts.
Revise and update all support system PQEs and procedures to maintain a safe operating environment.
Provide standby support to the Shift Supervisors when they are otherwise unavailable.
Conduct portions of new hire, fork truck and skid steer trainingCorrects and/or reports all possible safety and environmental hazards through proper programs on a timely basis.
Supervises; trains, develops and assesses performance of assigned staff.
Oversees traffic flow at ash house and LDI offload area.
Oversees the education of ash and metals contract haulers in safety and operating procedures.
Operates heavy equipment associated with tipping floor when required.
Oversees and supervises ash, ferrous, non-ferrous load out, maintaining a continuous traffic flow, and floor inventories.
Oversees inspections to ensure all weights are correct, trucks are tarped before and immediately after loading and there is minimal ash drag out.
Supervises, schedules and assesses services for street maintenance/cleaning and other related services required for the environmental operation of the plant as per the facilities operating permits.
Oversees the safety of ash, ferrous, non-ferrous truck drivers while they are on site.
Oversees general housekeeping duties in the ash house, adjacent areas, ash transfer belts and LDI offload area to ensure the safe, clean and efficient operation of the facility.
Supports all department and company policies and procedures.
Prepares all required reports and documents on a timely basis.
Available to perform other managerial duties, as plant requirements dictate.
Performs other duties, as assigned.
The Ash Systems Supervisor position will report to the Facility Manager. To qualify, the individual must meet the folllowing requirements:
Minimum High School Diploma or GED, advanced education and/or degree preferred.
1 or more years experience as a supervisor or higher, power/industrial background preferred.
Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, extended hours, be on call during off time and have the ability to work prolonged periods during facility outages to support the operation of the facility.
Capability to read, write, process and instrumentation, and posess good communication skills.
Working knowledge of safety, environmental and labor laws and regulations.
Strong organization, leadership, time management, ownership of projects, team player, able to delegate, positive personality and maintain clean workplace.
