Golder Associates Senior Civil Engineer, Solid Waste in Houston, Texas

Golder has a new opportunity for a Senior Engineer, with an emphasis in civil engineering and solid waste design, for our Houston North office. This individual will lead project teams delivering services for civil and environmental engineering projects that primarily involve waste management facility design and permitting, stormwater management, landfill gas management, operations planning, construction quality assurance, and other civil engineering related projects. The position requires periodic travel and fieldwork as dictated by project demands in Texas and surrounding areas.

Responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Manage and deliver complex projects involving large teams, changing demands, and multiple stakeholders for the solid waste sector

  • Perform design calculations and prepare engineering drawings, technical specifications, and design reports

  • Manage and direct construction quality assurance programs

  • Collaborate with Golder colleagues on new opportunities and in response to Golder client requests; lead and contribute to proposal and opportunity management

  • Interact with regulatory agencies

  • Mentor and coach junior staff


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline

  • A valid Texas Professional Engineer license

  • 10 years of experience in the practice of civil and environmental engineering design

  • Experience with Civil 3D and other surface modeling software

  • Experience in any of the following areas of practice; design and construction quality assurance for solid waste containment systems, preparing permitting documents for solid waste facilities, landfill gas compliance and management, preparing fill sequence and master plans for solid waste facilities (experience in more than one area preferred)

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills


  • 15 years of experience in the practice of civil and environmental engineering design

  • Demonstrated success in consulting, with the ability to build multidisciplinary teams, develop business, and provide excellent client service
