We are looking for a Project Engineer - Space Suit Informatics to join our team with Barrios Technology, Inc., a JETS teammate company. Do you have the following skills?

The selected candidate will:

  • Perform project and test engineering functions for EVA spacesuit design, development, procurement, manufacture, test, and certification.

  • Develop essential documentation for the assigned subsystem including work authorization documents, assembly procedures, test plans, test procedures, and any additional operations-related products.

  • Participate in the assembly of system components.

  • Coordinate test activities and requirements with NASA test facilities.

  • Implement test plan and schedule, coordinate/supervise test preparation and test implementation.

  • Coordinate the hardware integration process, including development of procedures, checklists, test support equipment and integration of the hardware.

  • Perform coordination activities to support the development, assembly, and testing of multiple sub-systems / components.

  • Perform in-person support of assembly, test, and integration activities at NASA lab facilities.

  • Setup and implement tests and prepare summary reports documenting test results.

  • Provide direction to support organizations during all phases of hardware requirements development, design,

  • manufacturing, testing, and certification.

  • Plan and implement hardware troubleshooting to investigate mechanical and electrical failures within flight hardware, development test articles, or test support hardware.

  • Develop and guide procurements of parts and hardware to support structure of components

  • Select and apply engineering techniques and procedures to analyze and evaluate specific problems, data, or other

  • features of the work which are broad in scope and complexity.

  • Perform job functions based on pre-established guidelines or instructions.

  • Perform other tasks assigned.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

Desired Education/Experience/Skills:

This position has been posted at multiple levels. Depending on the candidate's experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised.

  • BS degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to coordinate support from a wide range of technical disciplines. Must be able to present to all levels of management to both internal and external customers.

  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the field, such as mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, material selection, and component level and system level testing.

Requisition Preferences:

  • Prior experience with NASA flight hardware.

  • Prior experience with avionics development, design, or testing.

  • Significant experience with NASA/JSC organizations, processes, and procedures is preferred.

  • Experience with WiFi and/or RF testing.

  • Experience with software operation and testing especially using Linux, command line, and / or running custom software on processors.

Essential Functions

Work Environment

Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).

Equipment and Machines

Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).


Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements
