We are looking for an Environmental Engineer or Scientist to support environmental compliance programs for our manufacturing organization in North America. The Environmental Engineer/Scientist will report directly to the Vice President of Environmental Affairs and will be tasked with the following duties:
Provide oversight and technical/regulatory support for day-to-day environmental compliance and regulatory reporting tasks for air, wastewater, storm-water, hazardous waste, spill prevention and emergency response for facilities across our commercial and residential building products manufacturing segments (windows, siding, stone veneer, engineered metal buildings & components, insulated metal panels and coil coating).
Prepare applicable environmental permit applications for changes in manufacturing operations, raw material changes, throughput increases, and new facilities. Prepare environmental permit renewal applications for expiring permits.
Prepare periodic state and EPA periodic regulatory submittals in the US and Canada (e.g., emissions inventories, TRIs, Tier 2s, NPRI, RMPs, wastewater/storm-water DMRs and hazardous waste reports).
Prepare and maintain applicable environmental plans for facilities, including storm-water, SPCC, and waste minimization.
Engender teambuilding, cooperation and customer service with internal business partners (including operations leaders, plant managers and local EHS staff) throughout the manufacturing organization on environmental compliance matters.
Keep abreast of newly promulgated state and federal environmental regulations applicable to our manufacturing operations.
An Engineering or Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited university.
A minimum of 10 years of manufacturing and/or environmental compliance consulting experience isrequired.
Must have experience working within or providing support services for manufacturing organizations.
Must have the ability to read and grasp technical documents; environmental regulations, policy and guidance; and mathematical calculations. Proven project management experience is a plus.
Direct hands-on experience with (or a comfortable working knowledge of) air quality rules and NSR/Title V permitting; NPDES/storm water permitting and reporting; and CRA/DOT/SPCC/EPCRA/RMP rules and compliance is required. OSHA PSM experience is a plus.
Must be positive, self-motivated, flexible, energetic and ethical; enjoy challenges and problem-solving; and can efficiently manage workflow, schedules and deadlines.
Must have effective communication skills, be customer-focused, and have the ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and personalities, from senior management to hourly plantpersonnel. Spanish language skills are a plus.
Proficiency with Excel and large data files is required.
Approximately 25% travel is required on an as-needed basis.
