The Hershey Company Sr Manager - Tax in Hershey, Pennsylvania

Job Location:** 19 E. Chocolate Ave. Hershey, PA 17033

  • Role Responsibilities:*

_ State Income Tax Compliance, Audits, Tax Accounting_

  • Provide leadership, review and oversight of:

  • Domestic Supply Chain Optimization (DiSCO) project

  • audits and appeals

  • apportionment data, quarterly estimated payments, annual extensions

  • tax returns and workpapers, true-up workpapers and journal entries

  • tax credits

o income tax accounting (FIN 48)

o quarterly and annual tax provisions and effective tax rate matters

o monthly account reviews

  • Manage the relationships with external auditors and advisors on state income tax matters

  • Design and implement process improvements (data gathering, OneSource software, workpapers, co-sourcing)

  • Research state tax issues

  • Train and lead team

_ State Sales/Use Tax_

  • Provide leadership, review and oversight of:

  • audits (traditional and managed) and appeals

  • monthly account reviews

  • sales/use tax questions

  • Design and implement improvements to current tax team processes (i.e., data gathering for audits/appeals)

  • Provide functional area expertise/best practices to SAP S4 Hana implementation team to enable best possible software design that is built to accommodate traditional sales, digital sales, services, etc. to capture and appropriately tax all transactions

  • Train and lead team

_ US Federal Income Tax Compliance, Audits, Tax Accounting_

  • Prepare/review book/tax difference workpapers and other tax return documentation

  • Prepare quarterly FIN48 documentation

  • Assist with quarterly and annual tax provisions and effective tax rate matters

  • Manage IRS audits

  • Manage tax credit projects

  • Assist with process improvements (data gathering, OneSource software, workpapers, co-sourcing)

  • Qualifications:*

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting is required, including CPA certification or equivalent.

  • Minimum of seven years of tax experience in a large multinational corporation, Big 4 Accounting firm, or law firm is required.

  • Ability to research tax issues and provide recommendation.

  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral).

  • Must be able to proactively team with other groups (Accounting, Treasury, Finance Strategy/M&A and Legal).

  • Proficient in Tax Software (e.g., OneSource, etc.), Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and online tax research tools (RIA, CCH, etc.).
