The Tax Associate is responsible for assisting with all aspects of the state tax compliance function.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. State Tax Compliance
  • Prepare state income tax returns, estimates, and extensions

  • Respond to state tax notices as needed

  1. Prepare State ASC740 (Income Tax Provision) Calculations on an Annual and Quarterly Basis
  • Prepare state apportionment factor analysis, modifications, and other information to support the quarterly and annual state effective tax rates

  • Prepare other state specific provision schedules, including NOL and Capital Loss carryover schedules

  1. Prepare State FIN 48 (Uncertain Tax Position) Calculations
  • Prepare quarterly calculations
  1. Account Reconciliations/Cash Paid for Taxes Analysis
  • Analyze and reconcile state income tax accounts on a monthly basis

  • Resolve any unreconciled differences

  1. State Tax Audits
  • Complete information document requests from state tax auditors
  1. Federal Tax Compliance
  • Complete various aspects of the federal tax compliance function
  1. Support Company’s Internal Control Process Design and Testing
  • Review state tax procedures and controls to ensure they are working effectively

  • Assist with management testing of internal controls

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree – Accounting or Related

  • 0- 2 years of experience with accounting firm or Corporate Tax department

  • Experience with corporate tax software, preferably OneSource.

  • Expertise in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA and/or advanced degree

  • Experience with financial institutions
