ManTech Cyber Security Network Engineer in Herndon, Virginia

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Create custom visualizations of network data

  • Analyze data to pinpoint statistically significant patterns related to cyber threats

  • Identify vulnerabilities in network security, including:

  • Computer network intrusion detection/prevention systems

  • Firewalls

  • Operating systems

Required Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering or related technical field, plus minimum 10 years of experience

  • Understanding of networking protocols and network modeling tools

  • Ability to construct network visualizations (maps, reports, etc.)

  • Knowledge of:

  • Network security products and techniques (Firewalls, ACL creation, Radius, TACACS, etc.)

  • IT network-based attack methodologies and tools

  • Security operations and incident response technologies/methodologies

  • Highly developed research and analytical skills

  • Excellent problem solving skills

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Forward thinking, e.g. “What would I do next if I were an attacker?”

  • Strong presentation skills to brief others on your findings and recommendations

  • Solid Teamwork Skills - the ability to collaborate with others who are conducting research in the same, similar or different areas

Desired Certifications:

  • CCIE, CCNP, or other Cisco certification

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)

  • Security+ Information Systems Security Engineering Professional (ISSEP)

  • Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC)
