POSITION: TEMP PARK CUSTODIAN - Job # 92224.21.001 POSTING: External - Open Competitive DEPARTMENT: Parks and Open Spaces HOURS: Full-time Temporary/Seasonal PAY: $15.50 - 17.00/ per hour LOCATION: Lebanon Hills, Whitetail Woods, and various Dakota County Parks throughout the 2021 spring/summer season UNION: None CLOSE DATE: This posting will remain open until all available positions are filled. Temp Park Custodians are responsible for daily cleaning and maintenance duties in the Lebanon Hills campground and beach restroom buildings, Whitetail Woods Regional Park Camper Cabins, and other facilities within Dakota County Parks. Staff will report to Lebanon Hills Maintenance Shop and travel to work sites in a County vehicle. ** We are hiring 2 full-time, 6-month temps for the 2021 spring/summer season. Candidates must have the ability to work a varied schedule that includes weekends and holidays. DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES These examples do not include all possible tasks in this work and do not limit the assignment of related tasks in any position of this classification. Regular attendance according to the position's management approved work schedule is required for all positions. 1. Provide daily high-quality housekeeping and maintenance services in a responsive manner, including but not limited to restrooms at County beaches, campgrounds and camper cabins. 2. Stock and replenish restroom supplies. 3. Notify Maintenance Supervisor staff of operational issues, repair, maintenance and supply needs. 4. Comply with all operating policies and procedures established by Dakota County Parks Department. 5. Notify Park Patrol staff when issues arise regarding park rules and policies. 6. Perform other related duties as apparent or assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES AND WORK ENVIRONMENT Ability to provide excellent customer service skills. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with park and county staff. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Ability to follow policies and procedures. Ability to be self-motivated and self-driven. Ability to work with little supervision. Ability to work a varied schedule that includes some weekends, and holidays. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Assignments regularly require visits to outdoor sites and on uneven and/or slippery surfaces. Exposures may include, but are not limited to changing weather conditions, powered equipment, dust, dirt, solvents/chemicals, fumes, airborne/blood/bodily fluids, and all hazards associated with outdoor and building work. The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing, stooping or bending, grasping, forward and overhead reach, and recurring lifting of moderately heavy items. This position involves driving a County vehicle. SELECTION PROCESS: The examination/selection process for this classification will consist of a rating of your training and experience from the application materials submitted.
