Robert Half Construction Project Accountant in GREENWOOD VILLAGE, Colorado

Responsibilities held by the Staff Accountant include the preparation of monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. This position spends a fair amount of time producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. During the monthly close, many aspects of internal reporting will be your responsibility. You'll also be involved in compliance, communicate with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes.
Maintain fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Take part in various department-wide initiatives
Complete month end close, journal entries, without supervision
Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested
Manage the design and creation of balance sheet analysis and communicate reports to management
Maintain monthly payment schedules
Help with the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Produce complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
Assist in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation
Analyze and coordinate a variety of financial data, and report it in a useful and understandable manner Requirements - Proficient with spreadsheets and databases
Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment
High attention to detail
Skillful in analytical, quantitative and social skills
Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges
Competent with spreadsheets and databases
Efficient in ERP systems
3+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience
Proven knowledge of account reconciliation
General familiarity with month end closings
Well-founded grasp of bank reconciliations
Foundational knowledge in Construction Accounting
Deep understanding of Business to government (B2G)
QuickBooks experience desired
AIA Billing experience
Outstanding organizational, written and verbal communication skills required
