Job Description:
The Product Owner (PO) is the product’s key stakeholder. The PO develops and maintains a vision for the product and is responsible for communicating that vision to the scrum team. The Product Owner is responsible for the product and product features from concept to EOL. The PO works with internal (Systems Engineering) and external customers to ensure that business, quality and functional goals are met with each product release. The PO is the key decision maker on priorities and works to ensure that all stakeholders are aligned at each stage of the development lifecycle. The PO understands both the business side of the product release as well as where it fits within the overall system architecture and is ultimately responsible for representing the end user’s needs.
Essential Functions:
Working with stakeholders at the Capability and Program/Baseline levels to coordinate deliverables
Working with Capability Owners to refine Epics to make sure that they can be understood by the team
Conveying the vision of what is needed to the team
Prioritizing of the backlog in order to meet program level objectives
Working with the team to decompose Epics into Stories
Ensuring that all user stories are correctly written
Working with the scrum team to establish the user story acceptance criteria
Associating efforts to capabilities necessary for completing a minimum viable product
Identifying Subject Matter Experts well in advance where the team will need their input
Reviewing and tracking metrics generated by the agile tool sets to help prioritize backlog and predict schedule slippage
Displaying transparency in all aspects of the team’s work to the organization
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or related discipline
Six (6) years applicable experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD clearance, which requires citizenship.
The ability to communicate effectively in written and oral communications is a must.
Ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization, including Director and above levels
The ability to work in a teaming community is a must
Knowledge of DoD Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (ISR) platforms and technologies
Preferred Additional Skills:
Master's in any Engineering discipline, Master of Science in Management program or Business Administration
Additional SAFe® certifications (e.g. SSM, SPO/PM etc.)
Knowledge of RC-135 Mission Systems Operations
