Job Summary:

The Human Resources Generalist reports to a Sr. Human Resources Business Partner (Sr. HRBP), Director, or Executive over the HR function and assists with employee life-cycle support from requisition to termination for departments/business lines within the company or that are affiliated. It is intended to be a developmental step in a HR career path, preparing the incumbent for a HR Business Partner role. Key responsibilities may vary for this role, but will focus in either the areas of Talent Acquisition or Employee Relations. Core responsibilities may evolve or change for an incumbent during their time in this position.

Responsibilities (may include a subset of the following):

Talent Acquisition – provides comprehensive recruiting support to include requisitions and posting, working with HR Leadership on compensation and job description details, identifying appropriate and effective sourcing means, effectively utilizing Workday Recruiting, screening candidates, assisting managers with interviewing and selection, and executing employment offers. The HR Generalist should work to insure fair and indiscriminate hiring practices, while identifying the best talent available in the marketplace.

Employee Onboarding – ensures all pre-employment requirements are met and in accordance with federal, state, and local law utilizing Workday HCM/Onboarding. Manages the introduction of new talent to the organization ensuring they have been fully versed in policies and procedures, completed all required initial training, had proper introduction to their manager and co-workers, and received a comprehensive orientation. The orientation process includes partnering with other resources in the department such as Payroll/Benefits and Organizational Development to ensure the best experience and most complete delivery of information.

Employee Relations and Communication - works with employees, managers, and other company leaders, and in some cases, more senior members of the HR team, to address workplace concerns. This may include attending and even leading employee or manager meetings, one-on-one meetings, and inviting other subject matter experts in to the fold as needed. Works with HR Leadership to determine an appropriate course of action for HR activities such as promotions, transfers, discipline, first report of injury/worker’s compensation and employment termination. Working with other HR leaders, serves as an employee advocate to resolve complaints, take suggestions to management, answer sensitive questions and subsequently improve employee morale.

Training and Development - works with other members of the HR team in the administration of training and may have limited training delivery responsibilities.

Administration – supports building and floor access, the distribution of parking passes, security cameras, safety procedures, working with HR Leadership and Legal to update policies, and various other deliverables in the HR arena as determined by company leadership.


1-2 years of related HR experience required preferably in the areas of Talent Acquisition or Employee Relations.General knowledge of federal, state, and local employment lawGeneral knowledge of employment leave laws and practices, benefits, and compensationEffective at building relationshipsAbility to discern objectively through effective information gathering, examining precedent, and partnering with appropriate resources within the departmentStrong administrative skills with a propensity for employing technology to remain paperless, improve response time, and maintain accurate dataExhibited tolerance for interruptions, competing and changing priorities, and adjusting appointments and personal work schedule as needed to provide necessary service levels to the organizationHighly computer literate with advanced knowledge of HRIS systems and comfortable using MS Office applications to include Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing with both internal/external contacts and doing so in a way in which employees feel comfortable approaching in an unsolicited manner and without fear of any negative recourseAbility to effectively present to audiences using various mediums of communicationAbility to analyze and solve problems

Educational Requirements:
