Applied Materials Implanter Scientist in Gloucester, Massachusetts

Implanter Scientist

  • MS or PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering or related discipline

  • At least 5 years industrial experience

  • Hands on experience with ion implanters design, operation or troubleshooting

  • Detailed understanding of ion optics, plasma sources, electrostatic and magnetic fields, particle impact phenomena

  • Some understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes(Ion implant, Dry Etch, Physical and Chemical Deposition)

  • Track record of successful team membership – leadership and followership

  • Excellent communication skills across organizational boundaries

  • Willingness to work hard for significant opportunities

Work as part of a team developing the next generation of ion implant systems, including medium current, high current and high energy tools. Interact constructively across department boundaries with mechanical, electrical and software engineers to drive innovative designs. Participate actively in testing and qualifying new systems. Write test descriptions, analyze test results, summarize results to peers and upper management.

Position located in Gloucester, Massachusetts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drives design of new and improved ion beam systems

  • Leads physics team in design of experiments & data analysis

  • Clarify and communicate ion beam physics requirements to mechanical, electrical and software engineers

  • Present orally at team meetings and to upper management

  • Support strategic planning for product improvement projects

  • Drive the state of the art in ion beam technology Functional Knowledge

  • Demonstrates in-depth understanding of concepts, theories and principles in own job family and basic knowledge of other related job families Business Expertise
