Job description

The Risk and Underwriting Senior Analyst delivers professional activities focusing on his/her own book of business. There will be a smaller focus on using manual raters. Your main focus will be to discuss the performance of your contracts with the respective client managers. Preparing all your renewals using our experience based tools will allow you to become an expert in using these tools for all types of risks (medical, LPS...). You are responsible for the profitability of your own book of business. Doing your job as a Risk and Underwriting Senior Analyst helps you to provide in depth professional advice to clients and client management. You will also perform claims analysis as part of our risk assessment. You challenge client and sales managers in their questions. Because you are an expert in the underwriting tools you support the pricing actuary and underwriting manager in improving these tools to facilitate and improve the quality of work.

Your Role

  • You will be part of the underwriting team and perform peer review work

  • You review insurance contract for annual renewal

  • Work together with the rest of the underwriting team to prepare:

  • Reinsurance reporting

  • Manual quotes

  • Experience raters for SME contracts

  • Calculating benefit differentials

  • Ownership of your own book of business (medical, life, disability and accident)

  • Annual renewal

  • Profitability and pricing

  • Growth of existing business (requests for additional cover)

  • Full contact with client mgt, answering/challenging questions/requests

  • You perform case-specific risk assessments on new clients in close collaboration with Sales and Client Management

  • Support underwriting manager for preparation underwriting leadership meetings using case specific and book of business knowledge.

  • Active participation in underwriting team meetings, sharing best practices

  • Improving underwriting tools in cooperation with your underwriting manager and the actuarial team

  • Work independently

Key Requirements

  • You have a master or bachelor degree (Maths, Finance, Economy) or similar through experience.

  • You have ideally 3 years of experience in an analytical role. Experience in underwriting is an asset.

  • You are fluent in English, preferably in Dutch as well and have a passive knowledge of French

  • You have strong analytical skills

  • You are a good communicator and negotiator

  • You are a problem solver

  • You can work independently

  • You have strong reporting skills

  • You have a good knowledge of MS Office (Access, Excel).
