Description

Supervise and develop production team as well as manage programs related to the safe manufacturing and shipment of animal feed products. Implements and executes all production processes and ensures areas of responsibilities meet Business standards for safety, quality, efficiency and financial performance.

Principal Accountabilities

30% - Operational/Reliability Excellence and Continuous Improvement

  • Maintain a system that evaluates process improvement sheets and models. Reports daily for accuracy and changes in trends and acts on any adverse trends or lack of accuracy.

  • Executes and monitors day-to-day operations for all production processes for a single department, process, or shift.

  • Directly supervises daily operations of plant to achieve production throughput requirements including workflow, job assignments, scheduling, shift coverage, etc.

  • Supports, deploys and provides input to best in class operational practices. Utilizes deep technical skills and relevant experience to identify/solve problems and recommends/implements operating efficiencies.

  • Champions a culture that promotes operational excellence. Recommends process improvements and supports business case for new investments/innovations.

  • Supports capital plan to identify opportunities for continuous improvements applicable to the entire business/enterprise.

25% - Employee and Feed Safety

  • Educate and train employees to perform their job safely and to accept responsibility for their own safety performance.

  • Partners/collaborates with Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) and Food Safety, Quality and Regulatory (FSQR) experts to implement the most effective approach for complying with corporate safety policies and procedures.

  • Maintain physical condition and appearance that reflect the standards of quality and service of our business. Ensure that the character of our people professionally represent the brand image.

  • Collect and track date pertaining to corporate safety metrics and create corrective actions for deficiencies

  • Take part in scheduled audits and complete any follow up items by the timeline stated.

20% -People Management

  • Supervises and provides coaching to production workers, includes coaching Cargill’s core values.

  • Assists in planning for future production workforce needs and participates in selection of employees.

  • Responsible for training and on boarding new/transferred employees as well as workforce engagement, recognition, development and coaching.

  • Applies disciplinary actions when needed.

20% -Customer Focus, Product Innovation and Quality Management

  • Directly monitors production outcomes, quantity, and quality to ensure customer and food safety requirements are within specifications. Works with team and Assistant Plant Manager to meet customer specifications and timeline.

  • Documents and investigates quality data issues that occur and compiles information and provides recommendations for improvement for review by Assistant Plant Manager.

  • Within defined area of scope, identifies risks and recommends areas of improvement and innovation. Measures quality performance in areas that impact the customers.

  • Supports Business/Plant customer relationship by meeting businesses objectives and by understanding how operational performance impacts internal/external customers.

5% -Perform all other job functions as assigned

Qualifications

Required

  • 2 or more years of manufacturing experience in a production/industrial environment

  • Ability to work in the United States without visa sponsorship

  • High School Diploma/GED

  • Ability to create an environment conducive to teamwork

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Customer Solutions Approach. Holds self and others accountable

  • Strong listening skills; written and verbal communication skills

  • Computer skills. Ability to utilize and operate process control systems, MS Office software, and other business software applications

  • Ability to complete paperwork, reports, documentation, in legible, organized and timely manner

  • Ability to work in a fast paced team environment

  • Must be able to be on-call to respond to plant emergencies

  • Able to work extended hours to meet business requirements

Essential Functions/Requirements

  • Must be able and willing to work from heights (i.e. ladders, catwalks, etc.)

  • Working in an indoor/outdoor environment

  • Exposure to dust, noise, and temperature fluctuations

Preferred

  • Experience in a feed or manufacturing industry

  • 2 years leading direct reports

  • 2 year Associates or College level education

  • Previous supervisory and leadership experience

  • Inventory management experience

  • Demonstrated mathematical skills and mechanical aptitude
