Facebook is looking for a Storage Engineer that is passionate about technology, about solving complex business challenges, and ready to redefine storage services. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting infrastructure at scale, and building tooling and automation for provisioning, monitoring, and managing the environment. This position will be part of the Enterprise Engineering Storage team that creates, implements and supports solutions enabling the company to grow rapidly and connect the world.
Develop tooling to automate deployment and management of large scale storage environments, to automate operational monitoring and alerting, and to enable self-service consumption of storage resources.
Understand application and business requirements to create storage service offerings that enable the company's massive growth and wide variety of business use cases.
Manage storage infrastructure and services consisting of a mixture of enterprise appliances, networks, and open source technologies.
4+ years of experience with Enterprise Storage (with SAN -or- NAS speciality), with platforms such as NetApp, Pure, Nimble, 3PAR, Infinidat, EMC (Isilon, XtremIO, VMAX/Hypermax), among others.
Solid understanding of storage protocols including NFS, SMB/CIFS, iSCSI, and FC, as well as various storage hardware types (all-flash, hybrid, etc.).
Hands on experience designing, implementing, and on-going operation of geo-dispersed storage infrastructure.
Detail oriented with rapid execution in a fast paced environment.
Experience troubleshooting and maintaining automation scripts within a shared source control environment (git, mercurial, etc.).
Proven interpersonal and communication skills.
B.S. degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or other technical field preferred or 4+ years equivalent experience.
Experience designing, implementing and supporting object stores, such as OpenStack Swift, CleverSafe, S3.
Experience with deployment automation and configuration management frameworks such as Chef or Ansible.
Experience with server virtualization and/or container platforms such as VMware, Hyper-V, KVM, Xen, and Docker.
2+ years experience with Software Defined Storage solutions, such as Ceph, Gluster, vSAN, ScaleIO.
Experience writing storage automation and monitoring tools using Python, Bash, Powershell, Go, or Ruby.
